Over the past several months, I've been ordering Safari Gard sliders and some other accessories for my D1. They are adept at charging my credit cards, but the shipping department has driven me to outrage. Shipments do not arrive anywhere near the promised delivery date. When deliveries are finally received they rarely include the proper harware (ie jamb nuts for steering rods). After many attempts to get a tracking number for one of my shipments I finally recieved one. When I checked the number it tracked a shipment on the other side of the country over 3 months ago to someone else. I'd like to know if the shipping department is truly incomptetent or compulsive liars. Is this an isolated incident or is there a support group for those with similar experiences?

I had a little bit of trouble with them as well I ordered a bumper skid plate and lights from them. the package arrived about the time I expected it to minus the lights. I took everything to the dealer to have it installed they were just going to wire everything up and terminate the wires and do the lights at a later date. Anyway I go to pick the car up and there was 2hrs extra labor. Seems SG forgot the water bottle relocate kit (DII). So the dealer made their own. I called Mary and she credited my account for those 2hrs (I think thats acceptable). Then the lights came and one was broke. Mary again sent one out imediatly with a call tag for the one I had. So I did have problems but Mary was all over them and took care of me. Talk to Mary see what she can do for you.

While I have never ordered parts from SG, I think that if you search the archives you will find similar experiences of difficulty, frustration, missing parts and parts that don't quite fit as perfectly as you would expect.

I would have thought that with as much discussion SG problems have generated on this forum over such a long period of time that things would have improved. But it seems that there are always new stories popping up.

Hope your continued endeavours prove favorable.

Safari Gard as a company SUCKS! I called about buying a front bumper, rear bumper, rocksliders, etc. and was put on hold for about a half an hour before I hung up. The phone call cost me a few dollars (I called long distance) and I got nothing for it! Safari Gard simply doesn't care about customers! There only concern is with selling there stuff to companies, like Land Rover North America. That account (Multimillion dollar) is all they're concered with, not one persons couple of hundred dollars. As far as I'm concerned Safari Gard SUCKS! And I won't buy shit from them ever! Good Luck, and if you are really set on Safari Gard, buy through a authorized dealer (ie. Rovers North) Otherwise, buy from someone like John at Rovertym. Super nice guy, GREAT customer service, and much stronger products.

Packing slip said:
1 set of sliders...check
1bag of hardware....check
1 Rivnut tool....???
1 $g Catalog....???

Never used a rivnut so I destroyed 3 before I gave up. And after laying in bed I figured that I could have rigged up something but was to tired and pissed off.

Called, next day my missing stuff arrived.
pretty bad when they forget to include there own catalog.....

I oredered sliders for my DII & asked Mary for the black lettering on the sides & she said no problem. When they arrived they had the white lettering but I did not say anything. I emailed them about their rear bumper to see if it would work with my Southdown fuel tank skid & got no reply so I went elsewere.

Hmmm, I've had problems too trying to get information from them. I asked about the rock sliders and Mary replied but when I inquired further, I never heard back. I also requested a catalog and to this date, have never seen it. Not really sure what they're doing there. They look like they're running a business but I guess they don't really care about the customers that much.

Sorry to say my experiance with SG was disappointing, too. Between March and end of May 2001: Many phone calls un-returned. Multiple Emails with apologies about having not returned phone calls. unfulfilled promises to call when items shipped. 2 months of waiting for a bumper which arrived missing D-rings. More promises and apologies. Not sure if I was happier to have finally received all my parts or simply relieved knowing I wouldn't have to deal with the poor service anymore. I don't think my expectations were too high considering the prices.

I enquired repeated times about a special build of 110 accessories they were scheduling, and never had a call or email back.

Sheesh folks, I've never had a problem with them - now the freight companies are another story.

I can only suggest that you talk nicely to Mary - remember you'll catch more flies with honey - and document your problem. Might also talk to Greg and Brandi and let them know about your problems.

Uh, actually I would rather not have to suck up to a company to get them to do what they should be doing just as a matter of good business.

I think a polite request for information should be responded to, not ignored. If they choose not to respond I'm not going to go chasing after them, there are too many other companies that value my business.

I already sent SG an email to come have a look at what customers are saying about them. Who knows if this will change things or not.
