Any recommendations for how to get the track rod completely disassembled. I can get one ball joint out pretty easy. The other ball joint breaks, but I have not removed yet. The problem is the adjuster, which I believe is threaded left handed. It appears to be pretty hung up. Anyone had similar problems, if so what did you use to break it loose.

Cheers,

Bri

Bri,
I recently tried to adjust my drag link, and couldnt move it at all. I consulted others and was told that if you get water in the dry threads, they can rust and the tube may break apart. So, bought a new link ($26), and started. With lots of hammering, and opening up the slots with a cold chisel, I got one end out. The other one, well, you know what a gun barrel looks like after it has been blocked up and the fired? Like a peeled banana - thats what it took to get the other ball joint out! Rust all down the threads.
I suspect you are going to have to be prepared to replace the tube, and get brutal with it.
I think the adjuster will have a LH thread on one end, a RH on the other.
good luck.

What year was this on? How long ago did you do this? Isn't drag link different than track rod , even though similar things are likely to happen to both and track rod is a bit more vulnerable?

Likely mine has been there-- as is for 7 years.

Bri,
Mine is a 97 with 100k km on it. Did it a month ago. In Saudi, not much water around. The drag link is from steering arm to pax side wheel in front of axle, where track rod is behind axle, but principle is the same -left and right threads etc into tubes with slits and clamps.
