I've seen the two great articles by Greg Parrish and Paul Morgan about wiring of extra lamps but can anyone give me the part nos for :- Ashtray/coin-tray switch holder Fog switches for above switch holder Rear fog switches Cruise control on/off switch Rear wiper switch As used in the respective installations. I am starting to get the bits together for my own install but details of the above are difficult to obtain here in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Cheers all Jeremy J. Parkhouse |

Thanks Clif, I have read the write up you mention, as you say very good. One thing, with all this mention of Range Rover 6 switch panels etc...will this lot fit a Discovery II? I couldn't see the photo of the dash board on 'baja/canyon/4628' too dark. If anyone has a decent shot of their dashboard with these mods done please post it. Thanks for the help and cheers for now Jeremy Parkhouse (Disco II,'02 Dhahran, Saudi Arabia) |

Jeremy, I have the labels off of the switches at home. i will take a look at see what I have. I used the Discovery 3 switch panel mentioned by Clif above, as well as the fog switch he mentions for those 3 switches. I will look for the part number for the cruise/fog/etc. for the binnacle. What I did discover doing my install is that what works best is: Cruise control on/off switch with front fog cap (top left postion) Cruise control on/off switch with rear fog cap (next 3 positions) Front fog doesn't work well for these due to the shape of the cap. It is tappered up and out to cover the binnacle a little. |

Greg, Thanks for the excellent write-up of your experiences. I have already ordered Fuse/Relay boxes + terminal block as you suggested. I am also going for same light set up, although I haven't made my mind up on the IPF J01's yet. As you say maybe overkill but I've also ordered the Hella looms aswell. I need to cover all options! I agree with you on the installation, I to want to keep the thing looking right. I reckon with all this input we will soon have the difinitive guide to auxiliary light installs! Cheers for now Jeremy Parkhouse |

I ended up not using the Hella looms, as with the relay/fuse blocks, you don't really need them, but you can still use the wire from them. However, you will find that if you are only using the wire from the hella loom, it will be quite expensive wire. For my setup, I currently have it all mounted in my jack box. I took a piece of birch plywood, and cut it to shape to fit inside my jack storage box. To this, I mounted the ground termal block on bottom, the fuse/relay cluster and positive terminal on top and just outside the fuse box is a power feed to the battery with 100 amp wafer fuse/holder. It means relocating your jack to the rear storage compartment, but this is not a major deal. I have heard of another option, which is to run the light wiring out of the back door, and have this configuration all mounted inside the rear storage compartment wall, just make sure where ever you mount it, it will stay reasonably dry, drain excess water away easily, and is accessable to change fuses/relays if needed. Also, be sure to properly fuse all power taps/feeds. I forgot to get the part numbers last night, but if you call or email Nathan at discount rovers, he should be able to get you what ever you need. I didn't have part numbers when I ordered all of this from him. |

One thing you may want to consider doing different from my setup is using Pencil Beam lights in the center instead of Euro Beam's. The Pencils will shine about twice as far, which may be more important in your location. |

Greg, What battery set up are you running? I will have all these Hellas + a Warn XD9000 winch up front. Possibly want to run a fridge in future also. I was considering dual Optimas but have no idea which to choose. Any ideas. Cheers Jeremy |

Jeremy, I haven't upgraded my battery as of yet. I don't have a winch or fridge yet, so the only thing extra I have pulling on my system are a cell phone, gps and occassional light usage. At some point, I will probably switch to a dual battery system using either twin yellow tops, blue tops or exides. Not sure which yet. gp |
