Any tips. Do I have to drop the Cats and Downpipes to get it out. Looks like I'll have to. Doing it to replace transmission filter and pan gasket. Also, does this filter need to be replaced or will a cleaning do just fine. Never seen the part before. Thanks Todd |

the filter needs replacing. Do it like recommended (intervals) or you will reduce the live span of an otherwise very reliable gearbox. It has a very fine wire mesh that may look fine but probably is partially blocked with very small debris already. To remove the exhaust makes things much easier (to be precise it is necessary). Do not try to remove only the rubber mountings and to lower it while connected to the manifold - too much stress for the exhaust/cats and doesn´t really suffice). The crossmember can be rocked an pulled out of the way (towards front bottom) until the oil pan slips out. Not necessary (sometimes hardly possible) to remove the crossm. completely. |

Use your high-lift jack to push the frame members out slightly. Not a lot of pressure, just a little. The cross member will come right out. Thanks, Mike B. |

THanks for the tips guys, My rig has 110k miles on it and I dont know for sure if the filter has ever been changed. Bought it at about 90k. It had fresh fluid in it (all fluids looked fresh) so at least the fluids were changed regularly but as much of a PITA it is I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped the T-Filter. thanks again Todd |
