Well let me rephrase that, the speakers themselves vibrate just fine, the problem is that the DII rear woofer speakers are causing unwanted vibration in the rear door. I don't play unusually loud music, but anytime I find a song that I really like and I turn it up moderately, there is a loud and distinct buzzing/shaking in the rear door. I opened the door while it was doing this and when I push against the center of the door (up and to the left of the speakers) the vibration goes away and everything sounds great. Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks,
Jason

Its the license plate against the body. Put something between the plate and the truck to dampen it and all will be well again. And,,,,,,,,,,,,,,stop listening to that damn rap music , it will rott your brain!! :)

i jammed some stuff behind the plate, but it didnt do the trick.. it will always vibrate, i was tempted to put that spray foam in there, maybe someday :)

My D1 does the same thing. Stereo install places carry a product called Dynamat that should stop the vibration. Take the rear door panel off and add a few pieces of Dynamat to the sheet metal.

Yep, they all vibrate when you turn the music up real loud because there is no "insulation" so to speak between the peakers and the door they are in. Try the Dynamat, i haven't but it will probably work. Don't spray foam in there, bad idea.

Try squeezing a squash ball or two between door handle and door trim.

I pulled off the rear door trim to raise my wheel carrier a few months ago. When I had it off I just sprayed a bunch of Great Stuff in there. I used the minimum expansion stuff, but max would probably be better. It has worked well an no more vibrations.

I did have the license plate issue also so keep an eye on that.

I agree with Kyle on the rap music issue! If every one would listen to bluegrass then you wouldnt have a problem with your door rattlin!

lol! Let the assumptions fly... Nothing against rap music, but that was not the source of my problem. Depending on the selection I actually have some classical that will shake the rear door. ;) I checked out the rear door again and it is actually not the license plate; it is somewhere in the middle of the door. I think my best bet is the Dynamat. I think I remember somewhere on DWeb instructions for removing the rear panel; is it as simple as pop off and pop back in again?

As for the bluegrass, I am not big fan, but there is some great cajun music I listen to that I bet you bluegrass listeners would love.

i'm way into christian rock!!! drive around campus for a while and the they just flock to the rover.

the only blue grass i really listen to on a regular basis is alison krauss. have listened to a bit of lester flat too, but mostly bastardized songs of his via country musicians. have the O brother where art thow CD.....pretty decent.
most of my tunes are along the lines of: steve earle, wilco, son volt, nrbq, southern culture on the skids, pushstars, etc.

Garrett,
Do you still listen to WMMT?

WMMT is a public radio station that ISN'T NPR, out of eastern Kentucky, right on the Virginia line. They broadcast on the internet. In the mornings it's a pretty good mix of variety, then they switch to newer bluegrass or Celtic/Irish stuff (I'm kinda fond of the "Pickin' On" series, where they do covers of GD or the Stones or U2 or Pink Floyd, ala banjo and acoustic guitar), then in the afternoon switch to the ol' traditional bluegrass/gospel (which is a little more than I can take... I suggest listening in the mornings!).

Just something different.....

:)

I added the Dynamat a few months ago and it worked wonders!! I used to do custom stero installs and I always use dynamat to deaden the unwanted vibrations and road noise..

ACDC in bluegrass? That sounds cool.

For those of you with rattlin' plates, there is actually a LR part for this. It's called a licence plate gasket and is a ~1/8" thick sheet of rubber with the LR logo cut out of it. Of course you don't see that once it's mounted. I've actually got one at home but don't know the part number.

I got into the Hip when I worked up near the highline in Montana, used to get a great rock station out of Lethbridge (A.M. 1090?), they played at ton of TH. Scared and Nautical Disaster are probably my two faves. How about some old school Canadian rock... Kim Mitchel, Gamma, Prism, April Wine, Doucette, Red Rider and of course Rush.

ah yes world cafe. that is great. i use to live just outside philly and miss 88.5 (i think that is it....88.somthing) dearly. what a great station. almost worth moving back for.

i will have to check out wyep. alt. music here in cental PA is like Froggy 98. a really gay ass country station. "more weather now from kermit the weather hermit.....ribit". that's suppose to be funny 10 times a day. ugh.

i am sure you have seen bumper stickers down there in the 'burgh.

Mackeel... from Nova Scotia... they're gone, now.
Kilt... from Cape Breton, they're gone too.
Seven Nations... its members are from all over the US and Canada...
Enter the Haggis... another Cape Breton group.
Slainte Math... another Cape Breton group...
(see a trend here??)
Clandestine... from Houston (okay, that one doesn't fit the location, but it does the genre).
Bad Haggis... from Los Angeles (yes, that's right!)
Deep Blue Sea... I think they're from Nova Scotia.
Celtic Soul... from Florida (Jacksonville, I think).

Hmmmmm.... I'm sure I've left some out....

LOL..... ask Garrett where I'm from....

It's just my musical tastes are in my roots... Cape Breton/Nova Scotia kept a lot of Celtic music alive, whereas in the southern/central Appalachians (i.e., MY home) the music evolved into bluegrass.

But, Skynyrd ain't ever turned off.... "Freebird!!" :)

Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Clapton, those are my mainstays....

PS: and, from out of left field, Tori Amos, Jewel, and Shakira....

No. Born and raised in upper East Tennessee. Family's roots are mostly English and Scots-Irish. Several years ago, the wife and I started going to Scottish Highland Games, and ended up developing a thing for "celtic rock", which, it seems, is mostly from maritime Canada.

We catch any of the festivals w/in driving distance when we can, mostly just for hearing the bands....

not sure why i just mentioned that. oh.....because he plays at the bluegrass fest in pittsburgh. met him last year. he sweats alot.

nope. i don't make it below the mason-dixon line very often. use to make it to a bluegrass up in VT once in a while too. i wonder if the wolftrap theatre in DC has any good stuff like that. they have some good music there in the summer.
would love to open a place like that around here. we need a GOOD outdoor ampatheatre. we have a small one at the little local ski area. and a huge indoor venue that seats about 14K and then a small bar/club (crowbar) that holds about 300, but nothing good in town in between those sizes. usually head to philly for the good music......theatre of living arts, trocadero, tin angle, etc.

hey rob......is Pegasus still in the 'burgh?? went there by accident once during a hockey tournament. "hey boys"
