Disco friends - HELP! I've this itch.. saw a '97 V8 (Auto) with 110,000km (70,000 miles) at local LR dealer today. Here's the pro's: 1. top spec level (ES) - leather seats, CD shuttle, 2 elec sunroofs, etc etc. 2. exterior in perfect condition, not a scratch or a dent (not even the petrol tank). 3. I like it.. And the con's: 1. Partial service history: serviced on 10000km, 20000km, 30000km, 50000km, 85000km, 100000km, 110000km - including 3 services conducted by independent shops. I will be driving it tomorrow or Wed (can have it for the day). Will test every button & dial, from the low range 'box to the auto dip mirror. If I then still like it, shall I keep it, regardless the incomplete service history (missed 4 services)? For interest - price R150,000 (US$10,000). cheers Jaco South Africa |

greetings jaco, in my opinion, thats not bad service history. any major components replaced to your knowledge? any signs of SERIOUS leaks? what is the estimated life of brakes, belts, filters, tires etc? is that a fair asking price in SA? is there any warranty offered by the dealership? even 30 days may give you time to spot something wrong with the vehicle. mike |

Hi Mike I'm not sure re major component replacement. No serious leaks visible. Filters and brake pads replaced today. Price is fair. 40000km / 2y warranty included. Jaco |

overall, it sounds like a pretty good deal then. hopefully some major parts have been replaced already so they have some extra life in them. mh |

Well Mike thanks for your reassurance (telling me what I wanted to hear) - I properly checked it out today and will notify the dealer tomorrow that I'm taking it. Couldn't see/hear/smell/feel/taste anything wrong. :-)))))))))))))))) Jaco |
