has anyone experienced a clunking noise in traffic when you apply and release the brake? if so, does anyone know what it might be and how to fix it? not sure if it's my brakes or my driveshaft...

A loose caliper wil do that. As will many loose things in the front end. There's alot of force applied to the front end components when braking ans subsequently, alot released when you move again. I would just put the front up on stands and tighten everything you can see from the radius arms to panhard rod to calipers to shocks...

I had a weird clunk when I let off the brakes too and turns out I was missing a bolt on my front left caliper, being the lazy bastard that I am I waited to investigate until one of metal hoses coming out of the caliper ( there are 2) to the brake hose mounting bracket cracked in half due to the excess play and I was w/out brakes. Don't be like me...act now!

Take the wheels off and the rotor and brake caliper that hold your brake pads will be exposed. On the back of the caliper, there are two 13mm 12 point bolts that hold it onto the axle housing. Check to see that there are two and that they are tight.

Do you have a Haynes manual or a dealer manual and what kind of truck is it? Buying a manual will help tons but we can work around it. Can anyone offer to fax the page to him if he needs it, anyone... bueller, bueller..?? I am at wrk and big bro counts the fax sheets....

Warren, I can fax you the sheets (blow up diagram) from the Workshop manual if you don't find the caliper bolts.
