I had heard rumors of a recall on Catalytic Converters and so decided to call Land Rover's main office in the States. I had never registered with them and so they do not have my info on record and do not send me any recall notices. I found out that there is no Cat recall for my truck, but there is a recall for the SRS Link Lead. Anyone have any idea what this is (besides something to do with airbags), or what kind of timeframe they would need the truck for? Thanks.

Robbie,
I believe the problem is with the indicator which informs you of high emissions. It doesn't affect the truck in any way. But IF you were to have a problem with the Cat.Conv. the indicator would let you know. I am registered, have a 97, and that's what the letter told me. It's not an immediate issue. I've let mine go for a while, still no problems. |

Robbie,
I bought a 97 Disco about 10 months ago and would be interested to know what recalls the truck had and if they were all completed by previous owner. What was the number you called for Land Rovers main office and do you know if they would be responsible for any 'non-completed' recalls even if I am not the original owner of the truck.

I'm not the original owner either, and I got the letter from LR-USA. So I think they take care of it either way.
Also Robbie I see you're in Vienna - I'm in Reston. Meet for a beer and talk specs? |

The air bag link recall was for a flaw that allowed a wire associated with the air bags to bind on the steering column. If the wire rubbed long enough, it could activate the air bag.
There might be a sticker on your fan shroud indicating the recall had been carried out, but my truck was fixed at a dealer but lacks the sticker. |

Just talked to LR Alexandria Service person, asked about the SRS recall. They said that it is a new recall and that they had not received the parts or letter on it as of yet themselves. Told me to call back in a couple days when they have more. Recalls are still valid if you are not the original owner. I am the 2nd owner of my 95. Call (800) 637-6837 with your VIN to register and receive any new updates and recall information. The catalytic recall information that I "heard" was actually only for Rangies from 94-96.
Patrick - almost anytime, just give me forewarning. Can meet up in Tysons or even out at Champs or someplace. There are quite a few people in the area, so a happy hour night might be kinda cool. My email is in my profile.
