Just spent 4 plus hours changing the coolant temp sensor other. Now I'm getting the sensor high circuit P0118 and the gauge is at the bottom ant the red light is on and temp on my scanner is showing 284 at start up. Other than removing the ac compressor and UNbolting the accessory bracket it was a simple replacement. Now I'm worse off from when my sensor was bad and showing an inaccurate temp. I've made sure it's plugged in drove to see if it went off everything except put the old one back in.

Any ideas?

Based on my experience, it is possible that you pinched or damaged a wire during the installation and it's shorting to ground. Pop off the connector if you can, plug the old one in, let it hang, and turn the ignition on. No need to start the engine or drive. See if it gives the same wonky readings. That will give you a sanity check to make sure it's not just a bad new sensor.
