5 months and I thought that this 5 year old thread was as dead as the vehicle itself. Its a gonner, please give up hope.

Same here. It's almost become comical. It's like watching a virtual vehicle evolve in time. I'm wondering what the drivetrain will be next year :D

although I think it is funny that one of the hot styling features is the SEVEN SLOT FRONT AIR GRILL!!!!!!!! I think the Rover only has 4... I'm suddenly inadequate....

Anyway, Jeep is doing things right, lockers, multiple engine choices, esp, quadra-whatever, they just need some tires with a wuss factor of only 7, not 10.

The city of Palmdale in California about 40 min from my house just granted the OK for KIA of Palmdale to purchase 3 more acres to build a Crosslander dealership and off road track to show off the car. Maybe this thread should be dead but the owner of the KIA dealership and the city of Palmdale sure seems to think it will still happen. Hope it does for his sake.

The KIA / Crosslander connections run through Brazil. This somewhat dated article shows that connection. I'm wondering if there is more to this?

That new Jeep looks good driving through the snow, but at the dealership I thought it looked like an old Cherokee on steroids, sitting lower to the ground. Some nice options though.

The Rubicon and the new GC get my vote for Jeep. I'll believe in the Crosslander when I actually see one in real life!

The few, indistinct photographs on the Crosslander web page show a vehicle looking suspiciously like the Santanna PS-10. Is there any link or relationship between the two companies?

No relationship what so ever between crosslander and Santana. Crosslander is a re-badged ARO - from one of the former soviet states. Whereas the Santana is basically a series Land Rover with updates.

Santana had the liscence to manufacture Land Rovers in Spain - eventually Santana and LR parted companies but for some reason they retained the right to manufacture.

You know if LR ever decide to kill off the defender or bastardize it on an LR3 platform - purists could do no worse than to check on the chances of Santana importing to the US.

Crosslander - ARO - is from Romania that never was a soviet state.

Also, that Ford's 4.0V6 is a stronger engine than LR's 4.0V8. Had one in an Aerostar van, and haven't done a thing to it (besides oil changes) between 66 when I bought it and 135kmi when it was sold. Not a belt. Not a spark plug. Not anything. Hasn't leaked any oil, either.
