Viscous Fan Clutch - alternate part

As with any mod proper implementation is the key to success. Fully understanding how the viscous clutch works is a good start. There is actually a good description of its functions in the WM. After the engine is heated up and the fan clutch is warmed it will cycle as it should. Just starting up the truck and going like a scalded dog doesn't tell you much about how it will work at speed and correct temp. All you'll get is noise. The Chevy clutch will hold the fan until the first time it is rev'd to about 2500 RPM then it will freewheel cold. Otherwise you get to wait until it is warm.

While the rover fan does work its longevity will depend on cooling system conditions, ambient temperatures, engine RPM, frequency of use, etc, etc, etc.

The clutch to use, if you must, fit a 2007 Chevy Express 1500 van. Get the smaller V6 engine part for No A/C. This clutch works well with the Rover blade. If you want it even more quiet use the Dorman 620-602 fan (about $40 at your FLAPS).

The Dorman is a 19" fan. It will require modification or removal of the shroud. The fan is about 30% heavier, well balanced, and made from temp stable nylon (Zytel/nylon 66 good to ~450F before deformation).

If all this bothers you by all means stick to the OEM fan and clutch or convert to electric.

I run the V6 no A/C clutch. I forgot the PN, i found it on here somewhere. It was listed as "standard duty."
