That makes sense....but you'll need to buy some tires to match your gears! Usually its the other way around...

Not sure where you are getting those numbers....

Sorry I didn't run them through the calculator. I guess I should have responded with-

Great idea I have been thinking of doing the same thing. By the way you should think about installing an even lower set of gears for those monster 32" tires. Did you have to trim the bumper after you stuffed those meats in the wheel wells.

410's and 32" tires. Christ why would anyone entertain that?

Not a matter of reading or math but actually having experience. I know that's tough to imagine for armchair mechanics.

Yep. That's me! Im sure Ascroft knows nothing on this subject. Clearly we should all use your truck as a baseline for any future gearing/tire questions. Also Ashcroft could simply delete that silly "math" thingamagiggy and just put a link with your email! Then the world could be in awe of your amazing truck and your extensive knowledge! I personally would love to behold the machine that operates outside of mathematics. Sign me up for the monthly newsletter.

Wait so...in your original response....it was ....a guess?....not actual experience? Hmmm...kinda sounds like you're the armchair warrior right now. Shhhhhush honey the adults are talking. Go run along and play.

If any one has any actual knowledge that may be useful, thatd be great. As my original post asked, I was looking for people actually running this combo in this truck. Or at least these gears.

35's with 4.12's is closer to stock than 32's with 3.54's.
So what's not to like about that?

Can't argue that. I spoke to the guy who runs the tire shop today. He said he would exchange my 32s for 33s. No charge. I guess buying 7 sets of BFG's in the last 2.5 years got me some pull. Plus I take my companies 14 fleet vehicles to the same store.

I know 33s are tits but I seriously can't fit them with out the 3" lift+ trimming. I've got to sell some shit to buy the lift. Lol. I'm gonna try an work this out. Stupid surgery is eating up all my money.

Put on the 33's and add 1" spring spacers if you need them. I cleared 33's fine with this on my old D2. It was somewhat dicey to drive on the highway but may have been more of a no swaybars issue than a castor issue

I'd jump on that offer. You can always toss some cheap spacers in there later if absolutely needed.

I have an idea. I have a set of heavy duty 2 inch lift springs for a D1. You think the stock shocks will extend far enough to at least let me get home? I can install the springs and have just enough clearance to drive home. I'll park the truck in my driveway and then install the proper 3-inch lift when I get it. Thoughts?

Put 410's and 32" tires on a truck with a tired Land Rover motor (100K+miles) and see if you are anywhere near 2k@55mph. Won't happen, period.

And this:

"Shhhhhush honey the adults are talking. Go run and play." Is the single gayest thing ever posted on Discoweb.

It looks like this has settled down so I thought I would try a thread jack.
96 Disco, 4.6 dropped in, stock gears, trans, and trans case, stock axles, ARBs front and rear, running 235\85 now. I will probably go to 255\85 when those wear out and that will be as big as I want to go.
I was originally considering 4.10 or 4.11 whatever it takes, but reading this it sounds like I would be better of with a 3.9 set of gears. I would like to recover some of the power the 4.6 has given me. Comes in handy going up the mountain to get to the best trails. I will probably do axles at the same time.

I haven't swapped in the 4.10 yet. But I have swapped the tires to 32. Honestly it wasn't that dramatic of a difference. I read some threads that made it sound like 33's were certain death to a stock truck. Or course I haven't done any hard wheeling with them either. Yet.
