New baby Bronco. I see a lot of LR DNA. Looks better in some ways than the lux Defender.
The hood is very Rover.
Why do the tires look like they are made of shiny plastic?

I had a W124 where they put the battery in the trunk. It was a V8 model and there just wasn't a lot of room in the engine bay.
That made sense, and it was functional, although people would get confused when you popped the trunk for a jump start.
Putting the battery under the seat, that just seems like a bad idea.
It’s more like the gentrification of off-road ability. Those electronics can’t easily be fixed on the trail. Whereas if the weak point in the driveline is a driveshaft or CV joint, or even a differential, that can be dealt with. Off-roading has always been about shuffling the weak point around and being cognizant of it. And of course, having a trail-side fix at the ready. In that respect Defender has come of age by in part democratising off-road ability.
This one is at the dealership here.
I don’t disagree that the electronics are inherently more complex than the old D but does that make them the weak point? Outside of some one-offs the computer malfunctions can be fixed with a GAP tool in a few minutes. Ultimately it’s a trade off between comfort and fun/skill
Old Defender could do all this, too, but with a great deal more drama and requiring a fair degree of knowledge and experience of the driver. In that respect Defender has come of age by in part democratising off-road ability.
Here's another a little more real world. Note the pic of the river crossing and the Defender with the recovery strap laying in front of it. That crossing doesn't look that difficult to me. As equipped 73k.
2020 Land Rover Defender: What We Learned Over 420 Miles Of African Safari
The Opuwo airstrip had to be cleared of goats before our Beechcraft turboprop could put down on it. The presence of an airplane at all was unusual enough to draw a crowd of spectators to the landing. As the propellers spun down, dust settled around a waiting convoy of overland-kitted 2020 Land...jalopnik.com
2020 Land Rover Defender first drive review: The real deal
Land Rover's modern take on its iconic Defender is every bit as capable and even more comfortable.www.cnet.com
From everything I’ve encountered first hand and read are common issues the GAP can more than likely get you out of a pickle though. I’ve seen more broken pins on OME shocks than busted air bags on the IFS/IRS Rovers. Of course I’m not nearly as experienced in these as yourself or others. You make it sound as if most of the faults that occur with a vehicle the can utilise a GAP tool just require a simple code clear. What are you fixing in a few minutes with a GAP tool?
I didn't look at the link you posted, but off road capability isn't what made the Defender special. A 2015 Range Rover would have been much more capable off road than a 2015 Defender.
