While it's an old thread, I am dropping a couple things in here related to it. I have the same problem with our 1995 pre-GEMS NAS Disco.
I've been fighting unending fuel system skirmishes with this thing [fuel lines, pump, filter, regulator, relays, ad infinitem].
Right when it looks like I beat back the hord...it blows the 15 amp fuse in the under-hood panel. Okay.. ha ha, you got me, Lucas.. but now it appears to actually be FLOODING a cylinder with fuel. Like an injector is actually stuck open. This is bizarre as hell... I have never had an injector still open like this. I have seen references to leaky injectors but this normally refers to the O-ring leaking, not the actual valve stuck open.
In any case, I can attest to the ability of the Rimmer Bros stainless Y-pipe (with cats) to glow like a cherry.. oh, and their stainless muffler as well. If it's not obvious, I killed the engine once that "Oh Sh!te, something is REALLY hot!" aroma was detected.
Has anyone actually experienced a stuck injector like this? I now changing the injectors out.
Also, bonus question: Does anyone know if there are any "latest greatest injectors" tech out there? Some that maybe spray in a mist instead of a jet? Perhaps some that can help to beat my 13mpg [downhill] efficiency record?
