    D1 gearing

4.10 worked great with my 33's. The 35's I have could use more but it still does ok on the hwy and fine off road.

    Hello, I'm new here...and I have bought a Disco 2

So is this your first 4X4 as well? I bought a stock D1 and had it lifted and it's going to drive different once it's lifted. I went with a 3 inch RTE I drove it up stock and drove home lifted and it's not the same.........just the nature of the beast. I'm NOT saying it drove bad.......just...

    Overheating after steep climb

Thanks everyone. Thank God it's not my DD so I have time to look into it. For more info I did run the heater wide open and it didn't help the overheating........just damn near killed me.........lol I had all the windows down and it was still like a sauna in there and it was 40 Deg outside. I...

    Overheating after steep climb

I'm worried about it being a head gasket. My upper radiator hose feels like its under way too much pressure but I don't have another to compare to. Oil is not milky and coolant is not oily. The upper hose gets warm maybe even slightly hot but you can hold it at operating temperature for 5...

    Overheating after steep climb

Hey I have a 98 D1 and I went wheeling this weekend. It was the second day and right before I left I went up a really steep incline. 30 min later I noticed the temp was getting hotter than normal. It was 40 deg outside so I figured once I hit the freeway it would cool down......it got worse...

    Detroits

I started out with a DL/TT combo well over 10 years ago. When $hit hits the fan the TT will let you down. It's better than open but it's not close to a locker. I eventually went to an ARB up front and wish I would have sooner. The on road is better the off road is better so it's a win win.

    What winch do you run?

I have a Mile Marker 12,000 electric I bought around 2004 or so.....people said they aren't good but it's still going strong in 2017.

    Confirming a TruTrac and Detroit

The easy way to see if the rear is a Detroit is to make a tight circle in a parking lot and you will hear it ratchet. Mine does it even if I don't turn real tight. The newer ones (like I have) are called a soft locker but even they still have an obvious ratcheting sound when turning tight on the...

    Headliner screws?????

I had my headliner replaced and I 'thought" the guy did a good job until I replaced my mirror yesterday. I had to take off the visors and the console to get the new mirror on. What I found was a lot of screws missing and many that won't tighten down.....and one that is literally a 1/4 inch X...

    Sticker removal

Thanks it's on another transformation.........maybe the last since it rubs the garage with less than a 1/2 tank of gas..........lol

Thanks all I got a heat gun since I might be able to use it for other things as well.

    Sticker removal

I put some stickers on my Disco probably 12 years ago and they are aluminum foil type not vinyl. I'm trying to get them off and it's tough. I tried a hair dryer doesn't seem to cut it. I want to try a heat gun but don't want to burn the paint. Ant tips or ideas? it's the stickers on the front...

    9mm for bear defense?

People have jumped out of air planes and their parachutes haven't open and they have LIVED too.........lol. You don't want to have to rely on that kind of luck too often...........lol. My grandpa killed 400 pound pigs with a 22 pistol all the time when he butchered them. But that wouldn't be the...
