From what I’ve read in the ETM, the a/c clutch relay has power as soon as the key is turned on. Then when the a/c and fan switches are on, the ecm sends ground to that relay.
Seems like maybe i could just add a switch to ground the relay. That would make turning on the a/c a three switch operation.
I’ve got a 98 D1 that I converted to 300tdi/R380 a little while back. When I did the conversion, I didn’t plan on reinstalling a/c.
Now that it’s hot, I’ve changed my mind.
When I did my engine conversion, I blindly chucked my ecm and related wires.

I'm pulling the motor to swap it for one in better condition. I want the trans out of the way for cleaning and to repair a spot on the trans hump. Looks like either the front driveshaft let go at some point or someone decided to bust a hole in the trans hump.

One more thing, when we do this on a Scout, we have to pull the grill and radiator support off. Once the radiator is out, I should have enough room to clear just the motor and trans?

I'm pulling the whole drivetrain. So, dropping the LT230 will make it possible with just a normal engine hoist?
Just hoping I'm not gonna need more headroom than what the hoist will give me.

I was wondering if it's at all possible to remove a D1 motor and trans at the same time with just a normal engine hoist?
I've pulled motors w/ the trans still attached on IH Scouts and it saves a lot of work when working alone.
I'm fairly new to Rovers, but not to wrenching on old...
