    LR3 shift linkage question

My wife's LR3 is difficult to get into drive. The linkage feels stiff, like it is binding up. I hate having to take it to the dealer 2 hours away, but I can't figure out how to get the console that covers the shifter off to see whats going on in there. Any help would really be appreciated.

Could be splines in the hub are going out. See it before.

Starting to look for a Series, feedback on ownership?

Go with the 109 if you plan on doing any camping. They simply cannot be beat for that use. My 109 is loaded up with fishing gear in the spring and it stays there all summer and fall, and I still have room to drop the kids off at school. As far as turning radius goes, my 109 on narrower 32...

    Series MPG?

I've got a 2.5l petrol engine from an early 110 in my 109. I get between 14 and 15 mpg at 65mph. I don't bother to check the mileage for around town driving.

    master cylinder

I bought a MC from Paddocks in the UK for $65 including shipping. I had to get one from over there as my 109 in a RHD import with the single line boosted brakes. NO ONE in the USA had one in stock. Either that or the parts guys I was dealing with on the phone were clueless.

    For the LR3 Owner

I've had my wife's LR3 out in some pretty hairy stuff and it was even better than my pretty much stock 92 RR, which I thought was the tits off road. As much as I hate to admit it, the electronics do make it better off road. As long as you trade it in and get a new one every 5 years, there...

    Tools in your truck?

Military surplus tool bag. It's maybe 16 inches long with a zipper along the top. Works great.

    hand winch

I've got one of those hand winches and it is a very nice tool to have. It is slow, and will give you a workout. I bought one because I have a few different vehicles / 4 wheelers, etc that I tend to put into situations where a winch is needed, but didn't want to buy one for each vehicle. I use...

I am about to set fire to it.

I'll bet you have carbon build up. It will heat up and act like a glow plug. Can you look into a plug hole and see lots of black? If yes, I'd suggest pulling the head and scrapping the carbon off with a plastic putty knife.

    Photos of my Range Rover??

Nice Range Rover! Mine is a 92 Pembrook Grey one, as well. 5 spoke wheels, no ABS, no sway bars. 133,xxx miles, and while it does not look as nice as yours, it's a hell of a machine!

    Assorted stuck rusted bolt questions

Give it some more time. When I get a really stuck bolt that I do not want to break, I like to heat it up a little bit then hit it with the penetrating oil. Make sure it's not hot enough to catch the Kroil on fire! Then give it a smack with a hammer every now and then. It might take several...

    Bulkhead restoration advice?

My footwells were a little bit big, but I was able to tack them in place as they were. I trimmed them down later. It looks pretty crappy, but once the car is put back together you won't be able to notice. I also did all of my work without a jig of any kind, and with the bulkhead off the...
