My wife's LR3 is difficult to get into drive. The linkage feels stiff, like it is binding up. I hate having to take it to the dealer 2 hours away, but I can't figure out how to get the console that covers the shifter off to see whats going on in there. Any help would really be appreciated.

Press the shifter button and pull up hard to remove the knob, remove the screw near the EPB, pull up on the front end of the surround then unclip the back end by the cubby box.
