Got it all figured out. No dramas.

Just looking for the basic steps so that I don't take anything off or move out of the way than I have to. It seems pretty straight forward once you can get to the front cover...but for example, do I need to remove the water pump from the cover or can I just leave it on to save some time and...

Googled the hell out of this topic, looked at the Rave Manual. But looking for a writeup on how to replace the oil pump gears. I am reading references in the forum about packing the gears with vasoline to prime etc....but cannot find a good writeup that I am comfortable with tackling this job...

will have to figure another oil temp sensor solution. You cannot use a T-piece as the capillary tube needs flow around it. Hmm.... Agreed...easier to just go electric. Thanks for the comments everyone.

they are not even close if you look a the picture in my previous post. I will see if Glow Shift has an adapter. That would be easiest.

Alternatively I believe I have adapters to just replace the existing oil sending unit with the gauge temp sender. Would just have to disable the oil light. What would be the best way to do that? Unplug the bulb in the dash I suppose?

Thank Mike! Will do. I have multiple port too but the sender I have won't fit directly without an adapter.

Had the headgaskets done at a local indy. Got the truck back and now the left side valve cover has been replaced with a valve cover will an oil fill cap. And the original oil fill cap is still on the right side. Take a look at the attached picture. Aside from lacking attention to detail...does...
