Axle Sensor STC2786

Speed/Traction Sensor #STC2786. This is an extra sensor I ordered with rebuilding axle bearings (there are 2 per axle, one per side) ordered for a 2000 p38. Should fit all models of p38 and (I believe) Disco 2. Includes the clip, in original package...

    rip

[/IMG] My favorite vehicle for a couple of years, and then I dropped a bearing on one of the piston crank arms and I sold it to a guy in OH who was able to fix the engine for cheap having a couple of spare p38's around. However, I recently "butt dialed" him and eventually we...

    Rutland Red 2000 p38

Sad, but I've spent over $18,000 on this vehicle with the intention of running past 200K on it. After seeing a crack in overflow container for the line for the intake manifold I replaced the both overflow bottle and line. A couple of days after however, a cylinder has slipped on the right bank...

    p38 Blend Doors

We all know the drill, right? Can't seem to want to get rid of the beloved beasts just because of something silly (which is why must of us become our own mechanics when we can). So over the last couple of years, I purchased a 2000 p38 that according the specialty Bosch service center was one...

    P38 Cold air in Cab

Hi, There seems to be cold air coming out of the dash in that small gap under the steering wheel at the top of the knee board/panel (right where you can raise/lower the steering column). I think the blend doors are working ok, at least the major ones seem ok (air is getting to the feet and...

    HID Lights Failing

A previous owner on my 2000 P38 had put in HID lights. Generally I've been happy with the extra light, but lately I've gotten a few flashes. So I tried to re-align the lights, but I think the real problem is that the solenoid that operates the positioning of the bulb is failing. This means...

    Autozone Question

Enjoy the following (taken from an Autozone FaceBook question). Professional Comedians can't do better: You take the exact same route to work everyday. However, approaching the usual stop light, it takes your car longer to come to a complete stop with a feeling that your car is "nose diving."...

    P38 Diff Question

Hi, when I got my 2000 p38 I changed all the fluids, and the diffs were pretty bad, black and the fluid looked like they had never been changed. That was at about 102K. 30k later, the rear looked good, but on the magnetized front drain plug, there were some shavings. Is this a sign of...

    Refurbished Calipers

I don't normally get too excited by this kind of stuff, but I finally decided that after 15 years and 130,000 miles, I was supposed to be 25,000 miles over due to replace the caliper seals and brake lines on my 2000 P28. How hard could it be? Duh. 4 days later, I'm back up and running. But...

    P38 Starter Bolt

Just my luck, when I pick my son up from university to visit his ailing Grandfather and the starter packs up. At this point, I just didn’t have much option other than just call the local 24 hour towing company with no background knowledge of if the firm they’ll be taking it to can even do the...

    Head lights...

Well darn-it. Had a spider crack and teeny-tiny pin hole chip in my headlamp glass, so I thought I'd 'save it' by doing one of the windshield crack fillers on it. The pressure isn't that much, but evident it was enough to split the rest of the head light. Any one parting out a p38 might have a...

    EAS Solonoid

Had an EAS failure today, T4 at the dealership read "FR valve stuck closed." Sounds like solenoid might be going. Is there a way to just replace one of these (maybe with rebuild o-rings), or does it have to be a complete valve block replacement?

    P38 Headlamp fuse?

Is there a separate head lamp fuse for P38's (just for the bulbs)? I would think there might be separate fuses for LH and RH sides. Or are they just part of the headlamp washers? I couldn't find anything in either the workshop manual or owners' manual. Am I missing something?

    P38 Key Fob Replacement

Is there anywhere else except a dealership to get a P38 replacement? I have one "key" where the previous owner told me the dealership moved the vehicle with the key in the door lock smashing the fob body (I'd go for just a body - they're easy to reprogram as they just generate random codes).

    100K Brake Service on P38

I'm getting ready to the 100k brake service on a P38. RAVE recommends replacing the brake lines. I'm assuming those are just the lines running into the calipers? Is it worth it getting stainless steel lines? Any seal kit better than another? And where's it worth going (pricing it all out...

    Replacing AC Condensor

My condenser on a 2000 P38/4.6 is leaking and needs to be replaced. I can get the condenser itself, what size/type are the "o" rings for the lines, are they pretty standard? Also, looking in RAVE, it doesn't look too difficult to do. Is this something I can do in my driveway? Can I just open...

    P38 clock

I disconnected the ground to replace some lights in the dash (both instrument cluster and HVAC cluster). Ever since, the clock has been very slow. Is there some way to reset it that I'm not sure of? I can't imagine they fail being so simple...

    Detroit to DC

I'm driving from Detroit to DC this week. According to Google maps, there two major alternatives would be OH turnpike to PA Turnpike (i76 to i70) or OH turnpike to i77 by Akron down through southern OH to i70 there. PA Turnpike is "ok" (done that tons of times) but the alternate route is...

    gforce chip?

Anyone had any experience with a "gforce" chip? http://www.gfchips.com/ At first the idea of getting and couple of extra miles per gallon sound great, but further reading makes it sound like all they do is trick the air intake to force the ECU to run the engine hotter. Something to stay away...
