    Spark Plug Job from Hell

Hey everyone, I did something pretty stupid today whilst in the middle of a routine sparkplug change on my 04 disco with 149k on it. I got 7 plugs changed, and when attempting to tackle number 7, things went to hell. The number 7 plug (back, drivers side), came out easy enough, but I spent...

    Heater Core

So I've recently been noticing my coolant level is slowly dropping, but I can't spot any leaks. I then noticed that with the HVAC off and the sunroofs open, steam coming out of the vent to the right of my radio, and occasional steam from the windshield defrost vents. I talked with PT Schram...

    Temp gauge question

Just a thought, it wouldn't hurt to pickup an ultragauge or any realtime OBDII scanner to see what the actual temp is, mine has saved me from some potentially serious repairs when my water pump went, and later on my fan clutch went. When the water pump went, I saw the temp rising before the...

    Warm Engine Temps

Same here man...I've got a brand new fan clutch coming tomorrow, so we'll see if that does it. In the meantime I emptied the radiator, put a hose in the top and bottom and flushed it out. Got good flow out of it, didn't appear to be restricted at all. I then capped the bottom and filled it...

    coolant leak photos

When my head gaskets went, i had a steady stream of coolant out of the back of the block at the rear water passage. From that photo it kind of looks like its coming from the head gasket. Depending on your mileage, whether its the heads or the valley pan might not matter because you should...

    Warm Engine Temps

Update: I put in the new thermostat, and replaced alot of coolant with a 50/50 mix water and dex. Also added a bottle of water wetter. I hit 220 :banghead: while driving, and it no longer cools down when I rev the engine....it goes down to about 206 with the heat on. I'm pretty sure I bled...

    Warm Engine Temps

Got a new thermostat in, gonna replace it today and rebleed the cooling system. Hopefully my issues will be solved. One thing I have noticed is that when I'm idling with the AC on, It goes down to 204/202, which I'd consider normal. I'm thinking this is because of the aux fans running...

    Warm Engine Temps

from my research, for the 03-04 the fan and clutch are one part, unlike the 99-02 discos. A new fan was coming to upwards of $150. I got a guarenteed working used part for half that. With this being said about the new thermostat designs, would it still be worth it to try a new thermostat? If...

    Warm Engine Temps

My 04 Disco SE has been running pretty warm at idle lately. When I sit still long enough it gets up to 215 according to the scangauge, but never higher and it never moves the dash needle. When I'm driving, or rev the engine, it brings the temp down a bit, and on the highway I am between 193...

    Specific Question - Coolant Temps

Because of the bigger 4.6 engine, does the 03-04 fan pull more air? It was redesigned from the 99-02 4.0 engine..and I can't think of any other reason why unless its cheaper to manufacture.

If block, head, or any other damage occurred as a result of this, it seems to me you have a very valid case against this mechanic.

    Specific Question - Coolant Temps

Thank you. Does this mean that any alternative HD fan clutches that people have found to work at various autoparts stores are not good for the 03-04s? I'd love not to drop 150-200 on this part. Thats a very good point. I've found that the 6-7 year old plastic all around my disco has become...
