My leak is around the windshield. Water ended up dripping down and out the bottom of the dash.

Have you had any water get inside, maybe near the dash? I had the same problem and it started to happen after some heavy rains, and i have a leak. After a day or two of drying out it went back to working normally. Also during the same episode my blinker relay would click constantly.

Have you looked at the drawer slides at home supply store (Lowe's)? I got the heavy duty one from there, couple different lenghts. I used 21". They are rated for 100lbs. They have held my assortment of tools and junk with no problem.
