The truck - 01 Disco II, 156k.

Yesterday after startup and driving out of my neighborhood I got the dreaded fashing SES. Flashed then went solid then started to flash again.

So off to my indy guy and he pulled the codes - engine misfire cyclinder 3 - shocker...anyway he reset the codes and took a look at some other things. My throttle heater plate is leaking and he said that my coolant system looked to be under alot of pressure?

Anyway plugs and wires replaced last April so am a little worried about the misfire condition with my mileage - truck runs smooth and great otherwise. He checked for coolant smell in the exhaust and coolant level was fine.

Before I go tearing into something is there anything else simple this could be? MAF was replaced a few months ago.

I have heard mention of coil packs - does my engine have them and if so could they need to be replaced?

Any advice appreciated -

My #8 cylinder did this a few weeks ago and everything is pretty new. I swapped that spark plug with another one just to see if the other cylinder misfires should it come back. At least that will start to narrow it down. Other than that check the wire connections at the plug and coil. Mine has not come back after a few weeks so I'm not sweating it now. What kind of wires by the way?

pull the #3 plug and report back. make sure the spark plug wire is on there good, sometimes they like to play with you and act like they are seated...
