So, took the P38 for a little trip this morning...

Ambient temp outside is about 65deg F.

Truck ran up to 215deg F. That aint right.

Temperature gauge on the dash stayed right in the middle but, would climb up to 215 and would only level out or come down a few if I was coasting down a hill with no throttle.

The piping on this thing is whack...there is no easily accessible highspot for me to purge the air out. Any tricks or tips without giving the truck a radiator blow job?

Thanks,

Matt

Well, the temp gauge on the dash stayed in the middle and showed no signs of abnormality.

BUT, my scangauge climbed to 215~217deg F while driving.

I think I've gotten the airbubble taken care of but, now the upper radiator hose is as stiff as a damn tree branch. I knew I should have changed the thermostat but, Im working with someone elses budget so, I can make recommendations all day long but, swmbo is even cheaper than I am.

Radiator is brand new out of the box from Will.

The only thing maybe that I can think of was that the radiator wasn't covered in plastic, nor was it plugged or anything so any of the styrofoam that was packed around it might have broken up and be plugging it up.

P38's run hot.I can't recall what they run but it is high. Oh how is the heater core? If that is plugged it will also run warm.

Kyle, this thing was approaching 220 quick...I could understand 200 and I could live with 210 but, 220 with my fiancee driving it just doesnt cut the mustard.

I sent it to the shop. I've had enough of this fucking thing.

normally, i wouldn't quit on a truck but its been too long and I really have had enough of it.

Ive got projects and my fiancees daily driver shouldn't be one of them.

Just got a call from the mechanic. He couldn't find anything wrong with it.

The truck is fine. Im just a paranoid peter.

He says he thinks my scangauge is wrong...fine, whatever.

So, I just had a guy charge me $100 to tell me that I fixed everything right...

I got my dignity back. Money well spent.

I don't know about the scangauge but I still think that thing was hot when you had it at my house. Especially for a 10 minute drive on a cool day.

ahh well time will tell.

check the radiator coolant for exhaust gases, when my upper radiator hose was very stiff, i had to go through head gasket...
