Hey guys,
I sold my 00 D2 with 140k a while back, bought a bmw and since have missed my rover everyday----so, I have been shopping for an 03 or 04 D2 lately, and havent found anything under 17000 anywhere......Then I came across this one---

Its an 03 HSE Discovery---vienna green----HK----Disc Changer---Nav----dual sunroofs----parking sensors----13,400 CASH

It will be shipped to my front door for free, as I am buying it from a rover dealership with about 80 pictures and a sound bit of the engine. Carfax buyback guarantee.

GOOD DEAL????

most of the people on this board are going to cry about how its an 2003 and not an 04 and that the 03s are worthless. However, I am not one of those people and I think that potentially could be a good deal pending the milage...

most people also say if it has the sls then don't get it. However if you do not intend to offroad it much, then it is very nice. Pending the mileage that is a nice price.

If the deal itself is a good one, then jump on it.. don't concern yourself with the 'It doesn't have CDL!' if you're saving that much money you can afford to have someone swap the transfer case for you.

Thats what I have, and I love it.

Don't let people talk shit about the 03 models, They are great, mine has 80k on it and has never given me problems, also in late 03 the CDL was an option. Mine has it from the factory, and if it didn't the dealer can add the shifter, linkage, shift knob, sensor for about $500.

disregard the above statement about adding it. Mine is a late build 03 and did not have it as an option or an available nipple on the tcase to add the lever. mine required a t case swap to obtain the cdl.

also early model 03s had issues with oil pump failure resulting in the engine grendaing so check the vin against the vin range for that.

good luck

If you live in a large city with heavy traffic, the navagation system will just piss you off. It does not tell you if you need to turn left or right until you are a hundred yards from your turn. With 5 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic that is too late to make your lane change.

So, don't let the HSE vs. the SE be a buying decision you will most likely want to replace the HK system anyway.

I've got an '03 DII SE. HSE was nice, but not an option in my area. While my '03 doesn't have CDL, I've priced that you can order the parts for about $700 if you choose to "try" and install it yourself. Thing is: I've seen plenty of the '03 SE and HSE models without the CDL do just fine on the trails. The CDL is just a really nice perk if you have it already installed (or the money to install it).

Thanks guys---it has 65k on the ticker----and there are a few 04s around here for 21, and 20-----but I dont really want to spend more than 14000 right now on a car, and for 13400, the HSE seemed like a great deal- the blue book value is 19, and its fully loaded----I dont plan to offroad it, and only drive about 10 miles a day---I just miss the old rover, and im moving to florida so itll be nice for cruising

are there any known problems to be aware of?

thanks again

Well guys thanks for all of your feedback, it was greatly appreciated. I BOUGHT THE ROVER :) It is being shipped to my front door for free, clean carfax, and I am very pleased with the total price of 13,300 including the shipping to me :)

I paid 6100 for my 00 discovery, and sold it for 8500.... I will hold on to this one, and possibly get a second car later to drive while I tinker with this one. But for now it will stay stock.

It is an 03 HSE with 60k, vienna green, harmon kardon, dual power seats, heated seats, navigation, dual moonroofs, new tires, etc. Here are a few more pics for u until i can get it in the trails and snap a few myself. Thanks again
