03 D2, Loss of coolant and oil pressure

Greetings and merry Christmas! :patriot:

I have a 2003 D2 with 90k miles that has a habit of loosing coolant and the oil pump seems to loose its prime.

Once the pump catches prime, lifters sound normal and appears to have good oil pressure. The coolant loss is at a rate of about 1 quart in 300 miles.

The engine has been reported by the wife to run rough during this 300 miles. The spark plugs look fine. I think a plug wire got soaked while bleeding the coolant system and trying to put the coolant tank back in place.

Is there an oil cooling line that could be the cause of this?

Coolant is what is being lost but I have not figured out where.

The coolant that did come out of the tank and got on the spark plugs was caused by me trying to fill the coolant tank by myself.

The oil level has not changed any that is noticeable.

was the coolant spewed out of the tank? is the coolant bubbling once warmed up?

common leak spot is out of the front by the pump from what people here report.

I cant say that I have looked that close in the tank but I have not noticed any coolant spewing from the tank, nor have i seen it bubble bubble in there. I will look at it again to be sure though.

Right now I can't seem get the oil pump to prime.

I don't know if I have one problem causing two issues or if I have two different problems.

Both problems showed up a few days after driving abut a mile through some 5 foot tall, and fairly thick wet grass (long story). That is what made me think an oil cooling line might (just might) be the matter.

The oil pump first lost prime the day after the grass run and after being parked at a 20 degree down angle over night. After getting on the level the oil pump picked up and worked fine so I thought all was good there.

Then the heater quit blowing warm and I discovered the low coolant. I filled the coolant tank. The wife drove the rig about 300 miles over several days and now the coolant is low and the oil pump will not prime again.

I had to think a while about what all the car has been through lately. I hate it when work and stuff gets in the way of things I need to be doing.

Oil problem was a collapsed oil filter (Fram brand). The filter only had about 500 miles and the paper caved in. I never had seen that before.

Coolant leak is below the throttle. There are two small water lines that - I suppose - are there to keep the throttle from freezing. Anyhow there is a leak there. I figure I will need to take the intake off for that.
