03 DII S Doesn't Start...Sometimes

My 03 will run fine for weeks. Occasionally I will turn it off then it won't turn back on.

All power works/radio/locks etc etc...but I turn the key and nothing. It will sit.. go to start and turns over no issues. I haven't noticed a pattern...usually random.

Probably the Crank Position Sensor.

Are you experiencing a no crank issue? Or a crank, no start issue?
I get the feeling you are talking about a no crank issue. If that is the case, I doubt it is a crankshaft sensor problem.
I had a no crank issue the other day in my '03 and before I could fiddle with the shifter or tap on the xyz sensor, it fixed itself.

Yep - surely the crank position sensor does not stop cranking - I understand its all crank and no fire with the CPS out to lunch.

I just replaced my ckps for a similar problem...

If it won't crank, then it probably needs a starter. If it does crank, and still won't start, it probably needs a crank sensor.

Thanks for all the input... I have not had an issue with the starting. But when it did happen it was completely flat when I turned the key. All other electrical worked. It is inevitable it will happen again..

I would bet the starter is bad then, its pretty common for them to fail intermittently, and then get worse over time. I'd also check that your battery terminals are tight and clean.
