Hi, my wife and I are recent buyers of our 1st Discovery (2003). It's my wife's vehicle and she's wanting to put a license plate on the front bumper and I notice there's not a mounting bracket of any kind. Is there a place I can buy a bracket or kit to achieve this goal? I apologize to anyone that thinks this is stupid, and I know it's where a winch should go, but my wife would really like to put her favorite license plate on the front bumper! LOL! Thanks for any leads or help.

I can't point you in the right direction, but I'll tell you that it is definitely possible since NJ requires a front license plate, so my LR came from the dealership with the brackets. I'm assuming any license plate bracket (you can pick them up anywhere, such as walmart) would be sufficient, you might need to drill and mount with a bolt/nut.

go to the LR dealership nearest you (assuming you didn't buy it from a LR dealership) and strike up a conversation about maintenance or something, then act really greatfull, tell them you want to advertise you new-found loyalty by displaying their plate, then get them to give you the hardware with their plate! Go home, put on your wife's plate and stand back and admire the fruit of your lies...er, Labor, that is.

You might want to put the dealer plate back if you need service.

Dealerships have a pretty big promotional budget, so you might get lucky.

They come in every new Discovery. Check in your rear door, that's where they often are. If not, and you are in a state that doesn't require the front plates, I'm sure the sales department of your dealership will have one laying around. Be nice and ask for one.

Oh, and it must be riveted on, so if you aren't handy, you may need to be REALLY nice, or just pay the service dept. to put it on if they aren't that nice back.
