2003 Land Rover Discovery SE7. 78k miles. $18,900.
I love this truck, but I could use the money to pay off my house.
I bought it with 67k miles after a year long search. I'm picky. This condition was beautiful. No scratches, no dings, not even any chips, no peeling letters, no white fender flares, all the buttons work, the leather is beautiful, soft and smells great. The headliner was perfect, but just started to bubble on me. I have an appointment to get that re-done.
I was thinking I'd have this truck a long long time, so I wanted to make it as bullet proof as possible. I had Norman at Brit Rover go through it and we replaced every single fluid in the truck, w/ the good stuff, synthetic where applicable. Belts and hoses replaced. The head wasn't leaking, but had an ooze to it, so I went ahead and replaced that, valve covers, plugs, wires, everything, hubs checked, moving parts lubed, etc. etc.. I have receipts for that work for $3,187. The truck has run flawlessly and is like a new rover.
I have additional receipts for the following, totalling $8,396. That is for the parts only and doesn't include any labor. I did most the work myself, as I enjoy working on cars and have a shop at my home. Put a good 40 ish hours into it, I like to take my time.
The roof rack and ladder are semi custom. Made by rover racks in Aluminum. Lots of extra bars added for strength. I've had 4 guys up there w/ no problems. It's strong. It has tabs for 4 front lights, two rear lights, limb riser tabs, hi-lift jack tabs.
Hella Lights. Rallye 4000. Two pencil beams. Two cornering. Dual beam rear work light. Very clean installation. Hooked up to factory Disco I switches, looks 100% oem. Absolute pain in the butt, but looks fantastic. Involved lots testing and proding to get the factory switches to work with the hella wiring. No easy splices here, everything was soldered together and shrink wrapped. The connections aren't going to wiggle apart on the trail.
Odyssey PC2150 Battery. This think weighs 80 lbs. and is one bid/bad battery. It will run all the lights and winches and air compressors that anyone would want to add. It squeezes into the factory tray and fits perfectly.
Bottle Jack and Tools. The OEM bottle jack will not lift the truck, it's too small. I put together a proper tool bag with breaker bar and socket and a bottle jack that will lift the truck. I did some dremeling to fit the new bottle jack in the old location. Looks OEM.
Line X the interior. This was a big $ item. What a pain. But looks fantastic. The entire interior had to be removed, carpet, seats, trim, belts, etc. Then you have all this sound deadening tar. The best way to get that up is with dry ice, hammer and chisel. Took 2 people 8 hours. Then everything had to be washed down w/ spirits. Then the rest of the car needed to be completely covered in plastic - windows, dash, etc. Then the line-x was the easy part. Then everything had to be put back together. No worries about stinky moldy carpet.
Had the factory wheels sand blasted and powder coated black. All 5. Look brand new. Had center caps painted to match. Bought all new lug nuts as the ones on the car were ruined (typical disco rounded out lugs). Did a spare tire remount kit so the big tire would fit on the back. Tires are 275/60/18 Maxxis Buckshot.
Rovertyme Engineering Springs and Old Man Emu shocks, installed. 2" ish lift. The tires add about another 1" or so.
