Hey peeps, just the next step in my Don Quioxte like quest for the dream.. Cheap pickup and a little work and bam!! Great vehicle! I picked up a '04 w 4.6 w with a noisy engine. $1800! Turns out oil pump/ pump cover. :( and the dominos begin... Oil pump/ cover.. Pump was like marbles! But little dust in oil so maybe gettin lucky! Maybe... Did the water pump just because.. Get running but cel and running a bit rough and a lifter knock(?).. Codes are cyl 2, 5, 7 misfire. Find a broken plug wire bad plugs and burnt coil contact. Replaced plugs wires and coils. Still bad and find no voltage on upstream o2.. Replace upstream o2 sensors.. Replace plugs on misfires. And still misfires!!! Dominos dominos.... Next will be compression tests there... Thought you might like some light reading! But, long story really long... Just thought I'd check the block number just to verify. But I can't find it!
# 08d28818a Any thoughts on block Id?!

I'm not sure that means just 03. That could have just been when they started. And bad oil pumps can be any year D2 unfortunately.

First step should always be compression test.
The lifters need to pump up, and you may have a couple/three that haven't yet. Run at 2000 rpm for 2 mins.

Yeah.... I don't think even pimps would be using "peeps"... Just trying to be friendly. (So much for that) just did a compression test on at least the bank I can get to easily. Bank two are all just cresting 90 psi. Sounds very low, but I'm chalking that up to the cheapy harbor freight tester. Since all are very close.. I'm assuming that a lifter became damaged when the oil pump became a bag of marbles.. I have alot of receipts from before and all lifters and pushrods were replaced w the head gaskets.. Anything can happen. Tomorrow I'm going to lift the intake and try swapping injectors to see if the misfire moves. That will be my last potential for easy fixes! We shall see... And yes 1800. Still have less than 2200 into it. My thought was even if it needs a motor still worth it. I've had my 95 for nearly 14 years.
