Battery Replaced. Started immediately. But the third time i went to use the truck. It would not turn over.
It did take a jump. Alternator? Have quotes for 600 for the part. Is that insane? Thoughts on it might be anything else?

$600 installed? Get one from Will Tillery or drillbit and install it yourself. Should be less than half of the quote.

Dont go reman even with those that offer lifetime replcement. That never means as much when your 100 miles from home waiting on a tow truck! Spend the money on new one if thats what it turns out to be

Do you have any aftermarket equipment such as off road lights or stereo? These items are often not wired correctly and can cause a draw when the vehicle is off. If you are not mechanically inclined you can take it to Advance Auto Parts and they can check your alternator. If you know how to use a multi-meter, just measure the voltage at the battery with the headlamps on. If the voltage slowly drops with the lights on, you probably need a new alternator. If your alternator is working correctly you will probably see around 13.5V at the battery terminals.

You should also check to see whether or not the alternator is draining the battery. It happens, and it can be incredibly frustrating when you forget to look for the issue. They can drain a battery pretty fast, and if left to their own devices, can damage the battery as well, no matter how new it is.

Cheers,

Long shot here, but by any chance have you converted your rear air bags to springs? If so and you didn't re-flash the SLABS, that will put a drain on the battery.

alternator replaced! car still won't start. Im charging the battery now given the alternator may have drained it. Beyond that im at a loss as to what to do next.

Before you throw more money away by guessing, why don't you take a to a competent mechanic to diagnose where the draw is coming from.

the issue seemed simple. This was the first battery I replaced since I bought it new in 04. The next logical step was the alternator. Thought I could handle this problem without the expense of my mechanic. Seems I was wrong.
