I'm looking for a spare center dash fascia for my 04 DII to mod up for a double din stereo install. This would be the trim that the radio, a/c controls, center vents, coin and ash trays mount to.

Edit - Per Crown14 it sounds like other than color they are all the same going back to 94. Given that I'd still like to start with a black facia.

I would prefer black, but as the whole piece will be cut and put back together and a little fab work done on it to fit the double DIN, I'm going to have to paint it anyway.

I'm thinking about having something in hand to work on over Xmas break. No big rush, as I don't even have the radio yet.

nah I got you on this one, the top pieced is slightly different from the backside, hold two of them up next to each other and you will see what I mean. they are not exact copies.

First of all, the DII center fascia is different from the DI from the standpoint of how the heat and A/C control unit mounts. There are no plastic tabs for mounting the control unit on the DII fascia whereas there are four on the DI.. Second, the cover that conceals the screw under the radio on a DI will not mount to the fascia of a DII. Finally, the color of the early DII center fascia ('99-'02) is a different color than the one for a later ('03-'04) DII.

But what I said still applies- if he does not mind the slight color difference he could use a D1 center dash.

as the whole piece will be cut and put back together and a little fab work done on it

It's kind of like that 5 speed linkage for an LT230 you were trying to sell awhile back. There is a difference and it may be more than a little fabricating than some people feel comfortable with.

In the original post he stated clearly he wanted the part to modify in order to mount a double-DIN stereo so I naturally assumed he would be prepared to modify the stereo opening and probably wouldnt mind trimming the HVAC screw tabs off a D1 center dash.

Let me take this oppurtunity to say I am not claiming that anyone with a D1 or a D2 can swap the center dash from the other generation truck- like Paul said a D2 center dash wont work for a D1 and vice versa.
