Question,

Wife and I were changing the fluids in the diffs and transfer case tonight since we just picked this rig up. While lying under the truck I happened to look up at the front drive shaft and the end closest to the front differential actually had a zerk fitting. I have a replacement drive shaft on order that has the zerk fittings but I was under the impression that the stock 04 disco drive shafts had no zerk fittings. It is the factory LR drive shaft thats under this truck. Does it make sense that someone would modify this drive shaft with only the zerk fitting on the front and not the rear?

It doesn't really matter in the long run as I will replace the entire unit once the new shaft arrives but I just wanted to see if anyone else had ran into this.

Thanks people.

Yes its normal. The Previous owner probably had the factory unit rebuilt with serviceable joints.. Ive rebuilt mine 3 times now.

When the stock d-shaft fails does anyone know if its normally from the front nearest the diff? I would assume that's the case since its so close to the cat but just thought it was strange that the rear of the shaft wasn't modified. I know the replacement has zerk's at both ends that I ordered.

Thanks,

Ty
