04 Discovery Engine Knock (Video Link Too)

Hey Guys,

Had the engine torn down, pulled, fixed (head gasket), and rebuilt/resealed 1K ago. Here are a couple shots if you care to look at the engine taken apart or pulled.

Last week, developed an engine knock at startup, which increases in frequency with revs. The engine also seems to "wiggle" or be rough for a second in time a bit more occasionally at idle, every 5 or 6 seconds occasionally. The knock goes away eventually, usually fairly quickly.

I had a chance with my cell phone to take a quick video approximately 10 seconds after startup (sat for 40 minutes from a 10 mile drive, so warm temp too I guess).

Since I’m not a sound man, I would appreciate any thoughts so I can brainstorm before taking it to my shop.

Does it go away? Almost sounds like it does. Checked your exhaust connections?

It does go away. Haven't checked anything yet, been at work, and this new issue just has me thinking. I will take a look this evening though, thanks.

May be an exhaust leak, did the shop check pushrod gap/ clearance ?

when you did the work did any of the top end stuff get replaced? lifter rocker shafts and arms?
