I don't know where you guys live, but it's not fucking fair.

I'd register my DII in the next county over under a different property, but with my luck, as soon as I got the V8 the way I wanted it, the fucking rules would change there.

Cheers,

Kennith

Took a 95 Rangie out for a drive yesterday (it has the 2.8TGV mated with an R380) the conversion was completed just before Christmas. Can't wait to get this set up in my rig, smooth power, great match with the transmission. The short stick is much smoother than the long stick in my D90, easy shifting and a really nice ride.

The engine reminds me of my diesel Landcruiser, but the turbo provides all the additional kick the the cruster was missing.

It's a rough one to noodle out, but with a monthly fuel cost of $800-$900 cutting that by 30%- 40% is attractive. Gas here is $1.38 per litre... ($4.92 per gal) and it isn't going down in price.

Point Roberts isn't too far away from your work, and when gas is $1.38 per litre here it is usually $0.99 per litre in Point Roberts... that's my trick with my Disco I.

I was looking at the 2.8 for my Discovery, but from what I have read you need a reinforced clutch as the torque will blow apart the OE LR clutch. You are going to have one bad ass Disco II, and you'll love the fuel economy.

With my Disco I, the best fuel economy I have ever gotten on a full tank of Premium was 611 km including some city driving and driving down to Seattle and back (I calculated 19 MPG or 14.7 litres / 100 km on that trip).

Good luck, and take lots of pics and details on the swap :)

took my 95 Rangie (4.2 LWB) out for a drive from San Diego to Bakersfield on Friday, with a 3k-lb trailer behind. The thing was awesome, smooth power, great match with the transmission. Too bad I had to stop at 2800-ft mark to let it cool off... The radiator is getting old - it was nowhere close to warm towing a SWB up I-8 a few years back.
And the 95 SWB (3.9) is even better. I'll hold off the diesel swap.
