Greetings all,

I'm in the process of putting a 2004 front output housing with CDL onto my 2003 T-case. I've pulled the case and attached the 04 housing and the case is ready to go back in.

As you can see below I have two swtiches located side by side on the front output housing, but cannot for the life of me find the connections for these. I've searched for the wires along the frame and for other wire looms but can't find a connection. Have any of you all encountered this? If so where were the connections? If no connections what did you do to switch the lamp?

Finally, the Rave diagram has the two warning lamp switches in different locations than my housing. In the diagram the switch is located on top and on the front near the front output flange. Out of curiousity do others have their switches in the same location as the attached pics or are they located as Rave displays them.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Sam

I paid someone to do this when I purchased mine so I'm no expert. I seem to recall that the tech found the connection behind the window switches cover.

Sorry can't help more than that.

Posting back up what I found for future 03 owners.

Firstly, I got the T-case back in with 04 front ouput housing. CDL works flawlessly minus the lamp on the instrument cluster.

At the advice of Thunderhand I looked at the wiring harness underneath the center console and reviewed this against what I found in the RAVE electrical library and circuit diagrams. I found that I have the correct wire leaving from the wire harness to the SLABS ecu but I do not have a wire coming into the gearbox harness itself from underneath the truck. Therefore, my truck was never wired to include the diff lock lamp switch. :banghead:

Being that it is an 03 I can only figure it is early version of the 03, as I spoke to a local fellow with an 03 who did the same 04 T-case swap and didn't encounter the issue. He luckily had the wires to hook up the two switches, and must have a later 03 closer to the 04 launch as Land Rover was preparing for the return of CDL.

I plan to wire the switch to the harness myself and went ahead and added two wires to the loom during reinstall. In case anyone encounters my same situation I have included the wire diagram from RAVE for reference and a picture of the harness. It is located beneath the center console(arm rest) and is 10 pin connector(C0681). The correct cavity is 7, and in my truck was empty. The receiving connector is C0668 and should have a black with blue wire leading out of cavity 7 and into the SLABS ECU & instrument cluster via a connection with a wire header.

That's a nice writeup and good info for those intrepid enough to attempt this mod by themselves. Thanks.

It would be interesting to know how the mod proceeds. Please let us know how the dash CDL and ABS respond to the new input.

I picked up the 2004 T-case, linkage, and shifter for $350 (good deal) from a junkyard out in the country here in Georgia. Check Car-part.com for the T-cases in your area and give them a call.

I also had to replace the transmission output oil seal - $17, and new fluid - $20.

Lastly, 12 pack of Newcastle for buddy who helped, $15.

I hope you cut off the rod on the shit interlock sylinoid. Other wise you could be taking the console off again to fix it.

You do realize on the 04 the solenoid is located on the shifter and not on the case, right?

All I would have to do is un bolt the shifter and and slide it out to fix. Not a hard fix at all, and no need to drill rivets, etc.....

Wanted to post a quick follow up on diff lock lamp switch issue and its resolution for other 03 owners.

Instead of wiring the switch myself I decided to get a 04 gearbox wiring harness. I couldn't find one in a junkyard. At the advice of another, I checked the dealer and found a 2004 gearbox wiring harness, part # YMD111893.

I purchased the harness from http://www.landrover-parts.com ($55 cheaper than my local dealer) and installed it this past weekend. Everything works as it should and the lamp illuminates when the case is locked.

There is a write up about the 04 capability to turn the engine off/on with the CDL engaged and not disable the ABS HDC TC on the 2000 model if you are asking about your truck Roving Beetle.

Doug, I haven't been able to check as my amigos are lit up due to some squeally brakes. With that said, it is my understanding the 03-04 model computer will not disable the ABS/TC as previous years when the vehicle is shut off with the CDL engaged.
