Good day! I am new here and relatively new to the LR world. My '06 4.4l V8 is giving me a flashing check engine light when it's over 2000rpm under a load (sorry I do not yet have a code reader). I went through it and changing plugs and checking the coils I discovered oil on one of the coils (cylinder #5 or three back from the front on the passenger side) and looking in with a camera phone I can see what appears to be a beige colored seal squeezing in from the outside and a small accumulation of oil. (pic attached) I can't get the plug out as the seal seems to be blocking the socket from grabbing. My question I suppose is two parts.
1. If this is causing a misfire could that cause the flashing engine light? There could be so many causes, but could it?
2. I need a new plug tube seal and need to take the valve cover off to get at it. It is so tight in there with the battery compartment/heater hoses in the way. Can the valve cover be taken off without a major disassembly? I cant find a trace of anyone doing this themselves. It seems to me accessing the nuts on the bottom of the valve cover would be nigh impossible without pulling the engine.
Thanks for allowing me access to the community!
