Just sold my 2000 Disco and am now in the market for an LR3 to replace it. I'm looking at a couple of different ones but am perplexed as to which one I should get. They both look and drive perfectly and don't seem to have any of the gremlins that my Disco had. I don't put too many miles on my trucks, so I'm tempted to go newer, but then 15k fewer miles is still a year plus of driving for me.

Any opinions? I'd love to hear another perspective if anyone's got one. Thanks!

An LR3 doesn't have the gremlins that DII's have, window regs, locks, leaks, ect.. 60k is nothing on that engine, I have seen several over 100k with no problems, no leaks. Personally, I would take the newer one. There wasn't a lot changed between the 2 years, but it may have the updated tailgate latch, not fun to open when the latch is broken. Just make sure you don't have a noisy front or rear diff, they aren't as easy to work on as a DII. Also, listen to the EAS compressors for noise they seem to fail a lot. Check the cowl panel at the bottom of the windshield If it is bowing out from the windshield have it sealed down, water runs under it and can ruin the transfer case control module. hope this helps!

06 w/45 may still have a little warranty if the in service date is less than 5 years ago. there is so little differance between the two of those models I would take the older one w/less miles.

Am in similar position, thanks for the info. Couple of other questions -- anyone have experience converting the air suspension to permanent 2' lift? And is the tire bolt pattern same as the 03-04 Disco? You see where I'm going with this ...

Many thanks, TM

A permanent 2" lift is easily achieved w/modified height sensor rods. I haven't heard reports of issues yet, but a lot of these lifted trucks are still young. The bolt pattern is the same as a D2, but the center bore has to be opened up to fit them on a LR3. Might as well just move your tires over so long as they're 18". Thanks the big brakes
one can't go smaller than 18"/V8 or 17"/V6.
