10 year air bag replacement

Land Rover has a big old warning on the visor of the DII indicating that the air bags need to be replaced after 10 years. I just overheard someone requesting a quote on this and they were quoted $3700. WTF?

At that price, I'll be unplugging a couple of wires and possibly removing a few ECUs.
Damn.

No question, just found it interesting.

every car says that. it's not like it goes bad starts to smell after 10 years. nothing will happen to it. i've never heard of anyone actually having theirs replaced.

they dont need to be replaced every 10 years, just inspected. its no big deal. all cars sold in the states are req. to have it done.
