Don't confuse unpopular with uneducated, Paul.
Voting and jury duty may be responsibilities (on top of being rights), but not very taxing ones. Holding office - give me a break.

I'd can the entire thread...

Both my wife & I have held office. I have cousins who hold office as well. The job is what you put into it Peter. Its a pain in the ass & can be metric shitloads of work.

Gem what you enjoy is our culture & way of life!:patriot: Which many of my relatives [since 1635] & countrymen have died & are currently. You have to pay in order to enjoy big fing deal! I could give a two flying fucks about your issues assoiciated with your NON-citizinship. Don't let me hear you bitch!
I understand your loyalty to India. Someday you might need to make a choice.

Peter, et al

I'm not at all bitchin, but I really dont care what dweb thinks on this topic, seriously:

-I dont care for the pressure or advice to become a citizen, who the fuck are any of you to 'counsel' me? You're all crossing a line, but you know that I dont really give a shit. Just dont start this crap with me on the trail and we'll all be fine...here, its fine, type away!

its MY choice I make on my own(for those who need to know, i filed for citizen ship in 07, but theres a few years backlog) but y'all can post all the anti greencard and anti immigrant crap if it blows your whistle, I understand the 'militant vibe' thing here, and am familiar with the environment/culture.

- I could give 2, not even 2 shitz if all of YOU are complaining and fixated on my legal status here which got nada to do with 100 octane, or the OP. Its got nothing to do with rovers or wheeling either. Or the fact that our Canadian friend is a technically adept individual and I challenge his experience with modding rovers; its not personal, but I'm not a kid, and didnt care for his "lets see who knows more" shit. If you are a tech and have real knowledge, dont talk down to me about it, either act honorably and help out when you can, but dont come on here flaunting your dam resume and work history and demand my respect. Thats yours to want, earn and mine to give in time with trust. I have never met some of they guys whose advice I take like it was outta the bible(or equivalent text to be PC? whoa thats another fun can of worms, why not tie religion into this thread next)

-I dont care for the anti Indian references, we're the worlds oldest democracy, and recently both a boon and a contributor to the global economy...so i do value freedom, and admire those who protect those freedoms NONE of us should EVER take for granted. But being an american does NOT mean you resent anyone who is not a citizen, be ware.

Now the fact that some of my posts are rude, or make me come off like an asshole, that I may well be at times, (!) well thats another story and thats fine.

I'm not here to please anyone, and frankly most folks who have wheeled with me know I am a pretty cool guy in person, and love to wheel. But here on dweb, I fully enjoy the freedom afforded us by Ho and John

I appreciate you all sharing your views whether I value your posts or not.

My comment was towards Paul's idea that holding an office is a responsibility of a (any, every?) citizen.
Nothing about holding a public office as an example of a poor performance.

Ha are you fucking kidding me? You really need to get off your high horse and see how hypocritical that whole statement is. All you have done is buy a whole bunch of shit and bolt it on, then you come on here and just try to undermine guys with a lower post count than you. According to this thread, you bought your truck in august of 2006 http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24435. Since then you've used your checkbook to establish "credibility in rover modding knowledge" You dont know how to do anything but swap parts. You couldnt even remove motor mounts on your own without making an ordeal about it on the forums. Its all quite hilarious, I dont think you know how to do anything besides order parts, and then you try to kiss ass to all of the well respected members, but they just see through it too.

I must respectfully disagree with you on the topic of it not being anyone else's business. You are well aware of how seriously I take being an American and my feelings of patriotism.
Yes I am aware of that, and I take being an American seriously, too - I am an Amercian by choice. (As I know you know.)

What I was driving at, was that making that choice is not something that should be taken lightly, or for the wrong reasons. It's a very personal decision, and not something anyone should be pressured into. Isn't that what Freedom of Choice is all about? Every immigrant is different. For some it's an easy decision, maybe just one of convenience. They can retain citizenship of their country of birth, become dual citizens and have the best of both worlds. For others, the choice may not be as simple. How easy would it be for you to give up your US citizenship to become a citizen of another country if you had to make that choice? That's a choice some immigrants have to make when they become US citizens. Not an easy choice, a very personal matter and i still believe nobody elses business.

Took me over 20 years until the moment was right to make the choice. I know it was the right choice for me. But I don't think it's right to pressure someone into making that choice if they are not ready for it yet. That's one of the things I like about this country, we still get to make our own choices. Most of them, anyway.

Ha, well I dont consider myself a highly respected life long member, but I sure as shit know that I have much more credibility and respect on here than your sorry ass. Maybe instead of trying to put me down, you should pull your testicles out from behind your legs and actually offer a response to what I said. Oh wait, never mind, you cant argue against the truth. :smilelol:

Man, I almost missed this little gem.

Go back and read the first page of the thread. Who posted first? Me. I posted 4 posts with technical content. It was YOU who then challenged it with a couple jouvenile comments. I wasn't talking down to you, you weren't even involved in the thread.

I DID start talking down to you when you couldn't handle the tech, couldn't admit it, kept insulting me, and saying more and more stupid things.

I can't believe you can't even see that after all this time. I have never in my life really understood the "chip on your shoulder" thing. Now I do. You're the walking personification of that cliche.

Between the Crips and Chiques
This thread brightened up my evening. I was afraid it was gonna die down until I saw JSQ post another gem.

Freakin' awesome. I didn't learn anything because I was really just focused on the social trainwreck occurring, but it was worth it.

Thanks.
