Possibly putting steelies on my D1. I'm looking at 16x8's, and I'd like to keep my stance about the same width as it is now, maybe a tiiny bit wider. What backspace should I be going with?

Decide where you want it to rub

You are adding an inch of width so with the same backspacing it would net about 2" inch more stance if you use a similar tire size

The less backspace the less likely to rub on your spring mount the more likely to rub on the fender

I think my 8" wheels have 4" b/s which rubs the spring tops but gets inside my fenders that have been cut a couple of inches

I am pretty sure my backspacing is 4.25"...I have trimmed a few inches off my front arches, and I only have rubbing on my radius arm (this is with a 265/75R16 BFG Mud-Terrain TA/KM).
