Can you fit 17" rims to NAS LR3's? I always thought you could, but someone said that it was not possible...

I could of sworn that a while back some guy had posted pictures of his white LR3 with 17" rims and Dunlop mud rovers, and it had a black ARB bumper; but I can't find it now. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yes you can, but you need the smaller front brake rotors from the V6 model. There are not too many wheels with the right bolt pattern/spacing. I only found one non land rover wheel, and it was from Australia.

Front and rear caliper carriers need to be changed as well as the discs front and rear. The acutal caliper is the same from V8-V6. The 17's are also available from Rover...

Front caliper carrier part# SEH500012 x2
Rear " # SXP500013 X2
Front discs (V6) #SDB000604 x2
Rear " SDB000636 x2
17" wheel # RRC002852MNH

I have 275/70r17 MTR's on Rover 17's on my V8

Dynamic 4x4 in Melbourne sell a steel 17" wheel for the D3 at a reasonable price (~$170 Aus?). The offset is slightly different (the rim sticks out a little more) but they're quite nice. I use them as my daily drive.

Can you post a photo of yours with the rims? We can keep it quiet so the vultures don't rag on anything about you or your vehicle or your country or your anything at all ;)

Do you know if these steel rims require the V6 sized brake rotors I've heard must be used if going to 17" alloys from rover?

I ask because a 17" rim would allow use of the new awesome bfg MT km tire which is about 32"x10" on 17"rim.

Cool man! I'm flashing back to the Seventy's all over again!

BTW, you might want to crop that second image so that you don't take heat from members of this forum for not using genuine SnapOn tools :)

Awesome, here's a shot of the us spec lr3 v8 with 18" bfg AT-ko tires, 265/65. Unless those steel rims are shaped such that there is more internal space than the alloy 17's, they will probably not work around the brakes without swapping them for V6 spec rotors and such. Which is unfortunate because the new bfg MT appears to be an amazing design after seeing a set last week at Discount Tire here.

None obvious yet except in front where the arb cuts in a little close on a full turn - which will be trimed/bent back soon. For articulation testing I have a nice retaining wall where our garage drive goes down in.

Speaking of cutting and trimming....does this look familiar?

yeah, it's the worst wierd spot on an lr3, stuck there solely to frustrate anyone wanting to use larger tires and/or chains.

what size are those tires? I had some 285/50x20's on an older lr3 that was very close right there but never touched.
