Did this truck come from Michigan?
No, I bought it here in Denver with a seized engine. Before that it was in Belize for 20+ years. Originally purchased in the United States, but I can't remember where.
I have paperwork that goes back to the early 70's.

Is the top and rear door in as good as condition as the rest of the truck?
Good question, it's been 3 years since I removed it and stored it in the back of my garage. I'll say it's in probably in pretty close condition. The top is the style that has two side windows and a sunshade, but not the upper safari windows or sliding vents in the headliner like the safari top.
As for the rear door, it's probably not as clean as the rest of the body, but complete without damage.

I'd advise anyone seriously interested to have someone local check it out for you. There are many local Rover club members who know more about series Rovers than I ever will and I'll happily help coordinate that meeting as much as possible.

I should also say that this is by no means a 'finished' project. There are several things I would do if I were keeping the vehicle - starting with the suspension, it's a bit rough at higher speeds and would be much nicer if replaced with parabolic springs and new shocks.

There are no door tops with the vehicle or side mirror heads, I do have the stalks but they're not installed as I was planning to switch to Defender mirrors.
The wipers work but there are no blades - I don't drive in the rain.
There are dual fuel tanks but I don't believe the switching mechanism works, I've never messed with it.
There are switches for heater and fan, but I'd be surprised if they work.
No overdrive, but the Turner is pretty peppy so it's not really needed.
Speedo cable is present but not hooked up.

All that said, the vehicle doesn't need anything right now to enjoy her the way I do. I love just cruising around my neighborhood or into downtown for for ice cream runs and to enjoy the evening air.

Regards,

I'd love to buy it, but I have everything tied up in my 300 Tdi conversion on my D1. Diesel conversions are damned expensive.

I was thinking you need to buy and stop here in Idaho on your way back to Bend.

300 tdi dam thats cool.

I had an English COP ride with me today. He just laughed at our fascination with Diesel Rovers or Rovers in general.

English cops? Sweet. When I was back in DC for Police Week this year, there were a couple of Bobbies at the Dubliner. We drank a lot of Guiness! They were pretty good guys.

I started my dismantle of my D1, but my buddy went on a TDY for a bit so I'm going to start the actual Tdi install about the first week of August. Hoping by Sept 1 my D1 is on the road.

Are you interested in a trade?
Maybe. I'm currently looking for a 2003 VW GTI in Jazz Blue, do you have one? Shoot me an email with a few more details if you're serious.

are the front 2 "clear" lights different?
No, the right one was off in the photo, it had a crack that I was trying to repair.

No GTI's anymore. I've just got a 99 dII with very low miles and decent mods in good shape. I am looking to get into a series instead.
