If you’re looking for a unique off-road vehicle that will absolutely go anywhere yet still can be driven as an everyday vehicle, here is your truck. This is a 1989 Land Rover Range Rover Classic. It has been meticulously built (as a go anywhere vehicle) for the past eleven years by my own bare hands and through every step of its formation has had the best service and upgrading a car could ask for. I have become a Land Rover enthusiast and learned this vehicle from top to bottom. I like Land Rovers so much I even bought another 1995 Range Rover Classic to play with as well. As I built this ORV I designed a vehicle that is not like any other and will stand out in a crowd no matter what. I installed the best of the best in service and parts on this vehicle. Words can’t even explain how many hours have gone into this vehicle to get it to the point that it is now. It has been my hobby and my pride and joy and I hate to see it go. However, whoever decides to take this vehicle on will get the best looking well thought out Range Rover in the US.

For anyone who has dealt with automotive service centers, they know that when they take a part off to replace or diagnose a problem, the service crew does not take the time to clean internal or external components of parts. They fix only the part that was broken even it is means putting it back with other dirty parts around it. This was the reason I chose to install and service every part on this vehicle. From taking the engine apart to dismantling the dashboard to fix heater core, every part was cleaned and adjusted before refitting all components. So after each project the parts were at new condition when refitted to the vehicle.

This truck will go anywhere the heart desires. With a suspension system with 14” of travel, a large boulder is no match for this machine. The truck can cross nearly any obstacle. And even if an obstacle causes problems or the truck gets stuck, NOTHING is a match for the 12,000 lb winch. Four wheeling at night is not a problem at all either. With 4 sets of lights facing in every direction and the roof rack pre-wired for more lights, this truck lights up like a landing strip in the night. People can see you coming for miles. If a camping trip is your desire, just load up the truck and go. You can take it as far off of the normal path where no one is within miles. And even while you are that far away from civilization, the truck has a built in 350 watt power inverter. It can power a TV, microwave, spot lights, blender etc. just like a normal house outlet. This even comes in handy for concerts where tailgating is a must.

This is not a vehicle for everyone. I will use judgment when selling this vehicle to its new owner. I have put so much blood, sweat, and tears that I will make sure the new owner will take the same care of it.

This description only says about a ¼ of the information that really needs to be explained about this truck. Please feel free to call me with any questions or for further information.

$8500

interesting rig ... I'm not sure that posts with long laundry lists of itemized costs (usually meant to try to justify high selling prices) are often treated kindly here ... but maybe the sharks will go easy on you ... good luck with the sale ...

I hate to sell it. I need to buy a house and i am starting a new territory for my company and just dont have time to play with it anymore. I hope it goes to someone who will take care of it.

drivetrain had about 40,000 when i put it in and i put probably 10,000 on it since then.
(tcase, driveshafts, axles, diffs, etc.) all was taken apart cleaned thoroughly and replace with all new seals, gaskets, and full synthetic fluids.

nope took it apart in May of 2007 and replaced head gasket, resurfaced the heads, took off oil pan and cleaned every inch of the engine inside to a shine and inspected all components and replaced all gaskets. Then refilled it with synthetic fluids. Cranks up and purrs everytime.

I also took out all push rods, lifters, springs etc. and cleaned and inspected everything.

Wow! You Get Kudos For The Nice Build Up.
I Would Watch It Rot Before I Would Take What The Market Today Will Bear On It [i'm Adding Your Labor Time And Sentimental Value In Too]....i Wouldnt Sell Out My Beloved Not Nearly As Nice Rover To Expand My Or Any Company Ever.if The Company Can't Pay Its Own Expansion Or Buy Me What I Need Now [housing] I'd Keep Pushing At It Till It Did And Hold On To My Pastime For When I Could Enjoy It More...but Thats Just Me. Thats A Beautiful Rover You Built, earned, And Deserve To Have-keep It...you Found All The Time And Money To Build It So Seems Very Likely You Can Find The Money To Do Those Things You Want And Keep It Too But Do Not Give The Part Of Your Life You Got Invested In That Truck Away No Matter What....face It-your Married To It Now :) Either Way Good Luck And Success In All Your Endeavors. Wait A Bit If Possible And It Looks Like You'll Be Able To Get A Better Deal On A House In Most States Anyway.take Her Out For A Day In The Rough...you'll Change Your Mind.

36's and stock axles? Yikes...

Not stock

Rear 24 spline axles and differentials $300
Front 24 spline axles and differentials $300

Begs the question what they are though, GBRs, Rovertracks?

This is a seriously well built rig, I have an 89 and this is what I would want out of my rig.

I guess with the winch, lockers wouldnt be a top priority.

Especially if they were looking at putting Dana 60s on.

Way to love your truck! I have a 91 that I'm taking great care to restore as you did - when things are apart, really making things right, etc, etc. I'll never go that big; but man, kick ass truck!

If someone has the money $8500 seems like a steal to me.

Hello to all,

I was planning on installing D60s front and rear with full hydro steering. I actually had all of the brackets cut and were ready to weld on. I only upgraded to 24 spline because i knew i was going to be driving it on road a little locally on the weekends and i just wanted something a little more stout while i got my D60s built. The truck originally came with 10 splines which blew my mind so they had to go. I was going to use my money wisely and get ARB lockers, gearing, etc in my D60s rather than spend just $800 for new gearing for my LR axles.

A buddy of mine already did his D60 swap and he designed and was going to help me build mine (www.roverunited.com) (you can also see alot of the stuff i did to my truck through the years on this website). He also designed my rear bumper/tire carrier and sliders that he and i planned on doing before i decided to sell it. So these couple of things are the only things i had left to do. Aggghhh, sucks that it is so close and has to go.

I always took about twice the amount of time needed to do a project so that i could clean every component around the area i was working in. I just feel that is the way to do it and this is why i never took it to a service center (they just fix what needs to be fixed and send it on its way).

Thanks to all for the good responses, the truck was my pride and joy and I absolutely hate to see it go.

Thanks
Ryan Wilcox

Uh, yes they are stock. Not stock for the early range rovers but stock in a d1. So, that makes them stock rover axles. Stronger than a 10 spline but still suck big time. They are not upgrades, i.e. GBR or Rovertracks.
