I'm looking to sell my 1995 Discovery. It's a great truck that I've had since college, but I just don't have the time to do anything with it (funny how in college you have plenty of time, but no money; then you graduate and get a good job and have enough money, but no time...). Anyway the truck is a great vehicle that I drove daily until about two years ago. I have most of the service papers for work performed on it since I bought it in 2001. This truck has not been offroad very much, probably less than 10 times in 6 years. It would make a good platform vehicle if you were looking for something to build into a trail rig. I live in the Nashville area and have no desire to ship or part out the truck. Below is a summary of the truck, please let me know if you have any questions.

General Info:
1995 Land Rover Discovery SD
136,595 miles (had 92,000 miles when I bought it)
Body is in excellent condition (no dents or rust)
Engine and drivetrain are in good working order (no issues that I'm aware of)

Recent Maintenance:
Alternator and belt (less than 100 miles)
Water pump and thermostat (less than 100 miles)
Radiator hoses (less than 100 miles)
Gear selecter film (less than 100 miles)
Power steering hoses (about 10,000 miles ago)

Other Maintenence:
Fuel Injectors (changed at about 100,000 miles)
Spent about $4,000 replacing gaskets and repairing nuisence issues several months after buying the truck. They replaced the swivel seals, intake gasket, valve cover gaskets, ignition control module, ABS sensors, 90,000 mile inspection, rear main oil seal, and some other smaller things. (I have records for all of this)
Replaced headliner
Safari Gard diff covers front and rear
Trimmed front plastic bumper

Issues:
Power steering fluid leaks from steering box
Normal oil leaks (not enough to even top off)
Rear windows don't operate
Passenger door lock doesn't pop up all the way to unlock door

As you can see the truck has been very well maintained. I have records for everything listed above, as well as most of the basic service work. I'll take some pictures and post them later today. I'm asking $3,500.

The windows aren't broken as in shattered, they simply don't roll down. The door opens, the lock just doesn't pop up all the way. Fixing the window and door would be very inexpensive. Engines, transmissions, and other related parts are what makes a truck worth the money. Everything is negotiable, but $1500 would be a joke.

1500 would not be a joke for this truck. Not being sarcastic, just being realistic for a '95 with that many miles and issues. But if you think you can get more, try what 5spd said.

Ah, but the headliner looks good. (not worth the additional 2k though. haha.) Would you trust the Disco on long drives?

$1500 may be a realistic price for a truck that has some serious issues, but I wouldn't consider the issues listed to be severe at all. It's in good condition and hasn't been beatup offroad like a lot of D1's that get sold at that price. I understand that it's hard to judge a vehicle that you haven't seen and that's why I want to sell it local; let someone drive the truck and see what they think. If someone offered a lower price I would certainly consider it, but not unless they were actually interested in buying it.

Drove the truck to Minnesota and back about two years ago without any issues. Its probably had about 3,000 miles since then, mainly used to haul to mtn bike around. You can definitly find a cheaper truck. Of course you will end up spending time and money getting it repaired. I'm not saying that all trucks at that price are broken, but lets be honest you usually get what you pay for.

Ray Dunn,
Don't reduce your price... We all know that your rear windows are due to the rear window ecu just needing to be soldered... (See tech section) The drivers door lock not coming all the way up is as easy as taking off the door panel and adjusting the lock mechanism, (search) Don't even respond to people making replies baulking about the price in which they're not even interested in your LR anyway... They're just hurting your chances of selling.

Ray--not interested in your truck but some advice to help out is try putting it on ebay. I know alot of people are against ebay, but I have sold a car on there it was very smooth. not only that, I hawk through ebay often and land rover disco's have been going for alot more than usual lately. I saw a 97 disco w/ 140 miles go for 4000 bucks the other day, apparently the market is hot on ebay right now...just an idea

I appreciate the advice about selling the truck on ebay, but I really want sell it local. Dealing with someone in person is the only fun thing about selling a car (especially a car that I really like). I reduced the price on here to match the price in an ad that I've got through a local sales paper. $2750 is a more competitive price in this area and I want to sell the truck sooner rather than later. Regardless, it's still for sale so someone buy it.

Hey man - I'm in Southern California. . . will it make it? Can you send a couple of pix of the interior? I'm seriously interested. Have the heads been replaced - normal sweating, leaking? Thanks! Oh - the AC, cold, leaky?

I would feel confident driving it CA. I drove it from MN to Nashville about a year and a half ago without any issues; it probably has less than 3000 miles since then. All that being said CA is a long way from Nashville...

I'll try to take some additional pictures of the interier tonight and post them.

The heads have not been replaced. It leaks PS fluid out of the box, I wasn't that concerned with it and just kept it topped off. Engine leaks a small amount of oil, I rarely needed to add to it between oil changes.

The AC is cold and does not leak.

looking forward to the interior pics - can you try to snag a pic from dead center - looking down at the block under the heads?

- also - If I go for it, would you be adverse to me changing the box before I left? I've had one just go out of nowhere and it was pretty crazy at highway speeds. Best - E
