I have access to a clunked 2003 D2 and am thinking of converting the lamps of my D1 to the newer style lights.

Purely for aethetic reasons and as it won't cost anything are the reasons why. My current lenses are cloudy, cracked and need to be replaced. This is more cost effective as it is free.

What parts should I rob from the donor other than lamps and finishers. I was thinking of the lamp harnesses as well.

I have done the searches and no one has spoken directly of what parts to get if starting with a 100% complete donor (less motor).

Flame on, and thanks for everything.

There is at least one thread where this is discussed that I know of (see link below). If the 2003 has HID bulbs (not sure about that), then you need to rip out the HID ballast as well, otherwise you'll have to buy separate HID ballast to power the bulbs. If it's just regular bulbs then all you will need to worry about is the fitment of the new headlight lens assembly.
This is a quote from the DiscoWeb thread that I had saved in a "to do" file for my '96 D1:

"I have done an HID conversion on my stock 2000 DII headlights. They are awesome.
However, I remember reading somewhere that there is a HUGE difference from the DI to the 1999-2002 DII lights. Maybe that would be the upgrade you are looking for. Otherwise the HID kit I used was from www.vvme.com I purchased the H4-3 4300K Bi-Xenon kit. http://vvme.com/product/detail-20022.html"

no 03-04 had hids and it is illegal to put them in. if you do, you are running on borrowed time as it will melt the housing.. I have seen it.

They will NOT melt the housing. True HID's run cooler than Halogens, read up on it. I have them in mine and an older Jaguar and they have been fine

X2

Everytime I get blinded by some jerk with his bright HID I want to hunt him down a take a baseball bat to his headlights.

Of course these are the same jerks who can't drive at night without constantly flipping the dipper switch.

If your blind stay off my highway
