Hi! Toward the end of last year I purchased this truck from a seller in Florida for $7500 and had it shipped to me in NY. Unfortunately I did not do enough due diligence on the truck and its been a bit more work then I anticipated or would like to carry on. The truck is running, driving, registered and inspected in NYS. Upon receiving the truck i had it taken to a local shop I trust for a post purchase inspection where it became clear that the truck has had its motor replaced (i have a sample of the motor oil that came in the truck to send for blackstone analysis if the purchaser would like that included). I also found out that the truck was not originally a manual transmission truck, at some point and i assume when the motor was replaced they also converted it to manual. Over all the truck is rust free and generally very clean though i suspect that the hood and passenger fender are replacements due to a slight color difference. I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from purchasing this truck i would just like an honest sale where both parties know what they are getting into, i certainly did not. The post purchase inspection fixed many issues, and around $2000 later the car was registered and inspected. I drove the car for 80 miles and unfortunately the transfer had failed. I had it towed back to the shop and another $2000 dollars later it has a new (used) transfer case and is running and driving again. I think this truck would be much happier with a buyer who is happy to fiddle and wrench on it at a home shop, it has a really strong foundation and I worry that I am already have a bit of a sunk-cost fallacy with the truck. I will try and list everything off the top of my head that needs attention, I will forget some things so please ask any questions or send me a PM.

  • the center (master?) console is falling apart. i have a new imperfect bracket, window switches and top cover that is in better condition but not perfect.
  • the passenger rear window is improbable and is held up by a bit of cardboard in the window jam.
  • front seats are worn with rips.
  • rear gate door does not open from the outside.
  • the ignition key is a recut and does not operate all the doors for locking or unlocking. the remote lock and unlock works but not very well. the key does not open the locked gas door and that door has to be jimmied to get open to refuel.
  • the headliner is in okay shape but some prior owner has used small staples in some spots to hold it up.
  • some of the dashboard drivers buttons do not work like cruise control and what not. i assume this has something to do with the swap but it was not high on my list.
  • i dont think the AC works very well, the heat does.
  • it currently has an exhaust leak that sprung up the day after it came home.
  • the center console shifter boot does not fit correctly due to the console being for an automatic and is now a manual. i wish i didnt wait to buy that metal one from that shop that just went under tuff-rok? hindsight!
  • the alpine window and rear window seals are cracking around the edges but seem to hold water out.
  • the front grill is loose from broken tabs
  • some of the pictures from the previous seller have tint on, the front and passenger window tints have been removed though tint remains on the rear portion due to the heating elements and me being nervous to damage them.
  • the allignment of all the front end bits turn signals and headlights is just sorta off.
  • sometimes the starter doesnt catch when trying to start but it will always start if you try again, i havent had this looked into but i wanted to mention it.
I wish i had the resilience to give this truck the repairs it needs since it is so rust free and clean, but i think i have to call it. I've had around $4000 dollars in work done to it and after shipping and tax tags and registration ive already spent nearly what i purchased the vehicle for. Ideally i would like to get somewhere close to my original purchase price but i am open to reasonable offers $7500 OBO

Ive attached some photos from the prior seller. ive only driven the truck around 200 miles and it stays garaged the other amount of time. it has not been driven on salted roads as it was in the shop for the majority of my ownership. i apologize if ive missed anything and im happy to answer any and all questions about it to the best of my ability.

I also forgot to mention it could use new tires. The ones on it passed inspection but are old.I have 4 new in box white wolf wheels that are included in the sale but no tires since other things took priority.

For those considering buying this D1, I have a couple of the correct 5-speed shifter consoles I do not need. They are not perfect, however. They have a notch broken out which is caused when the cable is too slack on the hand brake. It isn’t terrible and you can certainly use them as-is. Alternatively, as I did, you can carefully cut and piece the 5 speed section into the auto console. I used a dremel tool and epoxy. Unless you lift the rubber cover off you would never know it was an auto console. One is for power seats, the other is not.

PM me if you are interested. They take up a lot of space and I’d really like them to find a new home.

More than I was looking to take on (VT inspection laws stink), but I spoke with the seller and he was very forthcoming and transparent - very much a straight shooter. If anyone is interested, I'd encourage them to reach out.
