I'm selling my Burnt Orange 1999 LR Disco II with 177,000 miles to pay for some upcoming educational expenses. It was my first and only vehicle, and I have invested over $10,000 in preventative maintenance and $7,500 in after-market off road and performance modifications (I have most (if not all) of the receipts from upgrades, servicing records and all legal paperwork). Watson, as he's named, is fully loaded from the factory, including heated leather seats, downhill descent control, dual sunroofs, power everything, Dual A/C, 6 disc CD changer, rear jump seats with personal audio - he's a must see.

I have had a recent top-end job completed on the motor at 120k, new spark pugs, ignition wires, and his codes checked routinely using LR Testbook (Available at reputable Land Rover Certified mechanics.) I?ve opted to have the updated modulator installed at a personal cost to me of over $2000 to ensure that his braking system is better than new.

Modifications include: Upgraded EBC dimpled and slotted rotors with quick stopping green stuff pads on all four wheels, cat-back Borla exhaust, ARB Safari Snorkel (fully sealed), Center Differential Locking Kit (CDL), Rovertym 3" HD lift with rear air to spring conversion kit equipped with Bilstien 7100 Series External Reservoir Long Travel Shocks.
He also features a fully integrated wrap around Rovertym front bumper with full 1/4in steel steering box skidplate protection with Hella Rallye 3000 6" lights; a full length basket roof rack with genuine access ladder and rear folding step. The four 8" roof rack lights are all Hella Rallye 1000 Black Magic. All wiring (including bumper mounted lights) was professionally installed and guaranteed by JC Rover 4x4 in Denver and The Rover Shoppe in Milford, Connectict.

I personally changed the oil every 2,800 miles as recommended, and only use high mileage semi synthetic oil with Fram tough guard filters.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a visit to see Watson, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time.

Runs like new, asking $8,999 OBO, let me know what you guys think.

people should look back at other adds and see what happens when you list a truck like this for that kind of money. It seems to happen about once a week and the outcome is always the same.

Man are you the diplomat. That is the kindest response I have ever seen to a "slightly" overpriced ad.

Dayum, usually I dont say anything in threads like this, but almost 9k for a truck with 177k miles is a "bit on the high side". On here, even if that price was cut in half, it may be questionable...

"Watson" - I love it. I can just imagine the conversation...

"What the hell? Check engine light on again? Now what can it be?"

"Let's plug in the code reader. Ah, P1234. I should have known. Elementary, my dear Watson!"

Do the service records include a birth certificate?

I appreciate the honesty everyone - I know it was a tough bargain to press - but he needs to be sold, i have to pay for school somehow. Luckily, He'll be selling for 7,500 this monday =D You always need to high-ball before the haggling starts.. right? He is in excellent condition, and KBB lists a stock model of his same age, condition and milage for $5,275. I figure paying an extra $2,225 for over 7k worth of parts isn't too bad. Especially when all of the mods are less than 2 years old.

I have $3,000 cash in hand. My 98 just got totaled in a hit and run a couple weeks ago. Thats what the insurance company gave me. The truck was showroom condition albeit with no aftermarket modifications.

Serious offer of $3,000 stands.

I had two hooks for over 7,500 but decided to keep him. It would be very difficult for me to build up such a capable vehicle in my current financial situation, and i can't see myself driving a fricken subaru or honda after all is said and done.

To that guy who just got 3 grand from the insurance pigs for his truck: I'm insulted at the notion that you'd offer so little for a truck with as much work as there is in mine. The ABS modulator, with install and all labor alone was half of that amount in itself. I am truly sorry to hear about your loss, i'd love to have a Disco I.. a lot less electric mumbo jumbo to worry about. Hopefully you can find a good build with that kind of cash. That is, if you'd like to stay with rover in general... they can be a bitch sometimes.

Best Regards to all.

No actually, my first offer was for 7 - 7,500. He would have paid 7,500 but I turned him down. Later last week, I got another offer for 8,250. Still, I turned it down. Some people will pay what is asked, when prompted - if they so desire what they are paying for.

They just didn't need to be such a prick while doing it =D

Fact: KBB value is $5,250 with mileage (177,005) and condition (Good) taken into consideration, without the installed aftermarket modifications. (Which I had already assumed would incur a value reduction of 50% - at the very minimum).

Fact: It's fun to rip into people when you're shielded by the lonely screen of the internet.

Fact: I'd cordially suggest taking a look at a retail benchmark before thrashing a fellow rover enthusiast. (Beyond all else, it'll help you get your moneys worth.)

This thread is the reason why I came here; To see how much backlash i'd receive.

Thank you for fulfilling my assumptions.

*Drops to Level*
With a truck lacking any respectable level of continuity or aesthetic grace as yours, you are one to talk. I would assume that peddling Red Bull to children should provide you enough coin to make something nice for yourself, right?

Simply, go to www.kbb.com and enter in the same information as I have, legitimately without pulling your tampon out in awe of factual knowledge (you don't want to get blood on the carpet), and see for yourself.

I'm assuming when I see you, i'll have to pay to get across your bridge too?

Trolling is cool.

Like I said before, thanks for fulfilling my assumptions. I'm just glad to be one of the down to earth rover guys.. people like you give us a bad connotation as uppity pricks - a position in life you have earned virtuously.

What do you think meow?

KBB is very innaccurate for car values.

You should have taken $8250 or even the $3000 offer was pretty good.

trade on your truck is $1000 to $1500 if they are trying to make a deal. Clean retail at a reseller after being checked out is only $4800.

I am in that boat too, my truck is not worth selling and it has had alot more care than most any other D2 on the road.

I know, that 8k would have helped out me enormously (school is a bitch to pay for).. but for some reason I can't stomach giving him up. It is worth too much emotionally to me - so much so that I think the only thing that would provoke me into selling him would be a exorbitant amount of loot. That, or to be betrothed to Megan Fox. =D Some things are truly priceless.
