Up for sale is a rare, 1 of 15 built 1999 Land Rover Discovery ll. This vehicle was one of the fifteen cars represented in the Bodega Bay Land Rover challenge for that year. It was special built and it came with a unique Molten Orange paint and special interior colors.

It has been kept sheltered and maintained in Southern California its’ entire life. Therefore it is a very rare rust free copy of this truck. Also included is the entire service history records going back to new as well as all the original literature, videos and books in a vintage leather Land Rover case. It even has the factory radio code card and two key fobs. 141k miles.

Best of all it starts and runs perfectly that’s to a full engine rebuild with all the paperwork to show the work that was done. New exhaust and other improvements all done. Smog performed in the last 90 days and ready for the next proud owner.

My name is Greg and I represent the Estate as Power of Attorney in the sale of this fine truck. You can reach me at 805-407-5133. Price is firm.
Title and smog certificate in hand

Is that what you think it's worth or did you see a price somewhere? I sent him a text out of curiousity. He told me that firm price is $15k

Since no price was listed I took a guess.

edit - there's another thread from the same seller saying $15,000 firm. This thread has pictures and no price, that thread has price and no pictures.

Looks like a pretty nice truck, body is in great shape.

Unfortunately it doesn't have CDL.

For the seller, I'd suggest the following:

List the year of the vehicle which is 1999.

Need to see photos underneath as well as the typical body rust areas (rear door jambs, side sills, front foot wells, etc.)

Need details of the engine rebuild.

a few more photos on the Craigslist ad:

The undercarriage looks good.

For it to bring that premium, I’d want all the decals back on and original. It’s rare, yes, but not as much without all the original kit(in my opinion)

Makes me feel good about my undercarriage on a ‘96 if you feel that one looks good which I agree. Guessing the typical spots mentioned probably are pretty nice as well. Pics would certainly confirm.

The decals can be reproduced. I'm actually having the side stripes and hood decals redone on mine this summer. But it's not cheap (around $1500 for everything installed).

As for the rest of original kit...front winch tray replaced with aftermarket winch bumper; rear diff guard incorrect; roof rack is correct but missing the bike mounts; sliders look to be correct).

There is also something not quite right with the suspension. Looks to be either over lifted in the front or sagging in the rear. These came with SLS in the rear. Mine has been removed and OME shocks & springs added for a lift with 265/75 BFG Mud Terrain tires.

Sorry this is my first time posting in the site.
I added a few more pictures but it only allows 10. Text me for more pictures and thank you for the suggestions.

Were these trucks repainted when they arrived in NA? I figured they were LR Special Vehicles, painted that colour at the factory, but the window sticker says the colour is Java Black? not really too unique any longer with the whole front end winch setup being wrong.

yeah but I'd take that Safari Gard front end setup all day long

and I noticed the Java Black paint up-charge appearing as an extra just above the Trek 99 package....I would think that these left the factory as orange trucks

The 1999 TReK trucks were Java black from the factory. LRNA then painted them Molten Orange. This were NOT LR Special Vehicles from the factory. I did a ton of homework before buying mine. Having the right paperwork to prove the provenance is important because they were specially built just for the LRNA TRek dealer competitions.

Tyler Smith in Roanoke has one, he bought all the decals just to have them but has left his truck with the originals. I think he said he paid close to that.

Reading this thread is like watching Antiques Roadshow for Land Rovers, but with many historical consultants instead of just one. Bring us your crap, we'll tell you what it's worth. Along with dissecting all the details. A mix of entertainment and education without the bow ties.
