Hello everyone.

I was looking to purchase an SUV and was deciding between a W163 M-B ML320/350 and a Land Rover Discovery.

I was heavily leaning towards the Mercedes and have been looking for a good project truck semi seriously since summer but the right one didn't pop up forsale. However, the right Land Rover did and now my Wife and I are the proud owners of a 2000 Discovery II.

I've got lots of Questions and I will be spending some time searching this forum for answers but here's one off the top of my head.

What trim level is my Disco II ?

It's a 5 - Passenger, coil sprung truck. Cloth seats, partially body coloured front bumper, foglights, 1 sunroof seems like power everything, heated seats.

Welcome. Last year I attended the Northwest Challenge in Squamish put on by the BC Roverlanders. If you're looking for a fun crowd to hang out with, share mechanical advice, and find out about trails in the province I recommend checking them out. I really enjoyed spending the weekend with that group.

Can't answer your question on the trim level - I've never heard of that combination of specs on a D2 before. One sunroof is unusual, at least for the US market. It was typically 2 or 0. Might be something specific for the Canadian market. Post up some photos. Best bet is to upload them to a photo sharing site and then link to them here.

Thanks for the reply. I will post some pictures of the truck eventually. I havnt had a chance to get a good photo of it.

How Rare is Coniston Green? I'm finding it very difficult to find other D2s that are the same colour as mine online

I dont think Ive ever seen a Coniston green D2... It was a popular color for D1 and D90's I wonder if someone painted your truck? Maybe would explain why there are is no trim level badging? In fact when I go to AB's site to check color codes it doesnt list Consiton green as an available color for a D2 in 2000.

Was a single sunroof ever an option?

Not that I'm aware of, That's really strange.. Although I found this on google about the trim level.

While 1999-00 Discovery IIs had no trim level designations, the three trim levels that had existed on the previous Discovery I returned for ?01?base level SD, LE and top-line SE. Adding the optional 3rd-row seating changed badging to SD7, LE7, or SE7.

It is a power sunroof. The truck is 100 percent stock and super clean. The truck has not been repainted. It has no wood trim and manual seats.

My 16yo son bought a late model D1 with 1 sunroof. It too is power and looks stock but was installed at the dealership. His truck came with a book of receipts over 18 years which is how we figured it out.

I don't think this it is dealer installed due to having the factory sliding headliner shade and all. I've never seen an aftermarket sunroof installed with one

The dealer could have easily installed one sun roof and it would not be any different than what was installed from the factory. The sunroof cassette is all inclusive and is easy to install. The cassette includes the motor and sunshades.

BIG WHEEL ROVN IN KNOXVEGAS TN.
Sounds like you have a grey market truck possibly an import
By the way welcome and hope you have thick skin because it gets pretty roudy at times and people will act like middle school cheerleaders competing for smartass of the year

Well that didn't take long to go downhill.

How about running the VIN through a vehicle database? It's been a while since I ran a Carfax report but at minimum that should tell you what color the truck was supposed to be when it left the factory. Alternatively, a Land Rover dealership might be able to look it up for you.

Pics of sunroof?

It's a base model. With a dealer added sunroof is my guess. That was popular to do in the late 90's early 00's. I've seen a few.

I will snap some photos of the truck and the sunroof inside and out this weekend and post.

I've seen plenty of cars with dealer installed sunroofs ( I have one in another car ) and although I think this is stock, you never know.

Also, if no one else on Discoweb has a Coniston Green D2, does that make it the rarest colour ?
